I mean, school aren't recruiting athletes based on academic excellence..

The NCAA is also a corrupt turd organization but thats another story.

From 2003 to 2009, for example, the NFL’s now disbanded Mild Traumatic Brain Injury Committee concluded in a series of scientific papers that “no NFL player” had experienced chronic brain damage from repeat concussions, and that “Professional football players do not sustain frequent repetitive blows to the brain on a regular basis.”

In the case of Omalu, league doctors publicly assailed his research, and in a rare move, demanded a retraction of his study. When Omalu spoke to FRONTLINE about the incident for the 2013 documentary, League of Denial: The NFL’s Concussion Crisis, he said, “You can’t go against the NFL. They’ll squash you.”
You can defend the NFL all you want, but the facts show that they left the players in the dark on purpose on these studies[/quote]And they need to be held accounta...

... naaaah.

Nah, dog, you trying to spin this a certain type of way.

What about the personal accountability of millionaire liars misrepresenting their product?

You want personal accountability for select persons.

People taking advantage of others through drugs or manipulation need personal accountability, too, ESPECIALLY if they gain a profit from that advantage.

Accountability.

Absolutely. ;)

I agree the NFL was wrong for suppressing information. No argument there. What I'm saying is the league couldn't convince me that getting concussions over and over was ok. I don't care how they spin it or what they say. My mind isn't open to such blind faith in any organization regardless of what they are willing to pay me. I really don't know how to explain it any further. No one sat me down and told me this. I kinda just realized it through living my life. To me it's common sense.

I completely agree.

But the notion that these kids should know about he short and long terms effects of football, or how to mange money....

Yes I agree that they may know.... But do they UNDERSTAND. That is a HUGE difference.

Quote on 183 college athletes - "60% read between fourth- and eighth-grade levels. Between 8% and 10% read below a third-grade level."
that's awful...
The HS i went to is one of those elite sports/ academic shools. They will force feed incoming freshman/ parents/ the masses all types of ******** on how they don't give sports scholarships r special treatment to athletes and it's academics over everything. I know more than a few  who were 4/5 star recruits in football soccer lacrosse even swimming that fall into that category.

Can't be expected to read at a highschool level if you were never expected to read in highscool

In my opinion and it may not be one a lot of people agree with but the guys within the last 15 years have known the risks involved with football and chose to play anyways.

The guys from the 50s-late 90s I truly believe did not know or were lied to. Today we have so many more avenues to get information on subjects that werent available back then. Hell you had dudes smoking cigs on the sidelines back in the 50s-60s lmao.

Most people, including myself would take the risk to be able to play at the highest level of professional football and reap the fringe benefits that come along with it.

Pretty soon the NFL is going to have to make these people sign a liability waiver when they are drafted.

^ I have to agree.  While growing up in the 80s and 90s, all that was talked about was that you might get paralyzed or you could die while playing.  The long term effects were mostly about not being able to walk because of pain... not too much was brain related.

y'all need to watch any given Sunday.

these guys only play the victim when it's convenient. I'm sorry

"don't drop me I'm worth a million dollars "

nvm cant post ig on here apparently

100% agree

Thank you

Some people just like to defend power and authority at all costs, it makes the world makes sense and have order.

I agree that the NFL was wrong for their role in suppressing info. Yet and still they aren't and don't have influence over world health organizations. These are multimillionaires who have access to some of the best doctors in the world. Claiming ignorance isn't a excuse.
They weren't multimillionaires when they decided to play football, they were poor-*** kids.

Thank you

Seriously, people just want something this serious to be glossed over and be ignored.

For something so "common sense", why did the NFL have to conceal the facts by using doctors paid under their payroll? They reassured players that they wont suffer much long term mental damage when most deceased former NFL players were found to have CTE and other mental problems.

I will continue watching the NFL, but it doesn't mean a big issue on player wellness in the long run should be buried.

They weren't multimillionaires when they decided to play football, they were poor-*** kids.

Who forces them to play for years and years? They had/have the same opportunity as the 49ers player to step away. They chose/choose not to. Again poor or not doesn't change the fact banging ones head could cause long term health effects. I can't explain it any further. Some people are just smarter then others I suppose. Doctors have been around forever and the internet has been around in more recent times. It's not hard to ask questions or research for ones self.

In what other walk of life do we blame the lier for someone believing the lie? If I tell you the sky red and you believe it that's on you. Not me.

Nah you're a scumbag too if you lie
Two wrongs don't make a right yo

I don't disagree with this. The lie was something that could be fact checked. It's on the individual to do the fact checking. It's like those get rich quick schemes. If you buy into it blindly without question your a fool.
