The simple answer to why Nike is no longer putting ropes on the janoski any more is because they are cheap and realize that the primary consumer of the janoski is no longer a skater but rather suburban teenagers who have no idea about the quality of a shoe. Because of this, Nike will try to make the janoski in the cheapest materials possible. The janoski started out with leather laces and spare ropes, then two ropes, then one rope and one flat, and now it is at a point of two flat laces. The only ones that will continue to receive ropes are premium releases.
