Official NT dad thread: can the dads get love

combined my wife and I have about 55k saved up. so that with a 50k job should last til i can work up to something higher right. ? don't scare me yall
as far as furniture baby equipment, we shoudl be safe with the 2 baby showers we're having.

I read start from 0.

If u have 55k saved up, with a job already lined up(another 55k/annual) then you should be good...for now ofcourse.

Also idk how ur lifestyle is, meaning expensive or cheap or casual, thats also a factor.

Sorry about this question. But I have to start from 0 when I get back to America. Is anyone making less than 50k with their wives/baby mama's not working at all and still making it with a kid?

I started with 45K a year job and at the time my daughter’s mother wasn’t working at first. We lived comfortably because we lived below our means. Had a little gov’t assistance for about 4-5 months then she went back to work. When our daughter was an infant, we had her god-parents to watch her. She became a toddler - we put her in Kids r Kids. Had to scale back but we were debt free.

Bro, I’ll keep it real. Go consignment/Salvation Army with baby stuff. You’ll only need it for a short period of time. No reason to be out here spending all this money on new stuff. Get your car seat from the fire department. They usually give a free one and install it.(atleast in Atlanta).

If you truly feel you need brand new stuff, go to Burlington Coat Factory for equipment. Stock up on Pampers and Wipes from Sam/Costco/BJ -one of your biggest expense.

50K is a lot save. I wouldn’t use it all on baby stuff. Use that for emergencies.

Bro, you’ll be fine. I a lot of families make it with a whole lot less. Just have a plan for the future and enjoy the moment. They’re a baby only once and it’ll fly by.

You’ll have to find time at the gym on lunch or come up with a schedule with the wife. Most likely someone has to do the late night shift or early morning shift depending on sleep patterns. Just try to get in either at lunch or super early in the morning while everyone sleep. If you’re in apartment, go super early in the morning and use the apartment gym.

Here are me and my two kiddos when we went to visit the history of hip-hop in the Bay at the Oakland Museum.

Babygirl is 4 (turning 5 in a week) and my 7month old.

Please be kind- I know i'm still kinda big, but i've lost 23 lbs in 4 weeks......

Yeah BM drama is hectic especially if they’re still in love with you. Best to try to have a serious convo about it and leave each other out of your personal business/life. (No Q/A)

Now that child support...ain’t no way coming out that winning.

I work for Alameda County. I go to City Center all the time for lunch

You aint lyin...and even worse if you live in the Bay Area.

I just seen a small three bedroom house in the East Bay sell for $715k. And it was a fixer-upper :smh:

Im right there with you but I have an older child 15 who practically has college tuition for his catholic high school, my little ones are 21 months and 2 months LMAO.

Cost of living is atrocious in my area. I make good money, live sorta comfortably but baby expenses is no joke. Diapers, food, sitter... adds up real fast and real high

I was looking around, and saw this spot in oakland for $850K.

It wasn't in the best neighborhood either, and it was a fixer upper....I mean a fixer-freaking-upper.

Saw pics and the wood floors needed to be replaced because they'd become rotten, the ceiling was collapsing in the kitchen, and the lawn was just dirt....

Damn I just saw a 3 story 3 acre. Fenced in house for 300k in Virginia.
Looks like I'll never live in Cali lol we're thinking Colorado in about 2 years tho.

This..tuition for my daughter with scholarships went up to $23K for 7th grade.

Considering switching her up in high school ...

I feel like I'd do home school before private or charter..pray life works out for me to where I can even have the choice

I’ve heard home school is better. However, the social evolvement is something you’ll have to keep active - clubs on the weekend, girls/boys scout, etc.

Any debt?

my son got accepted to a really good school for kindergarten. cost of living here in hawaii is already super high but i think we’re going to try and make it work. my wife will be starting her MBA at the same time though so our schedules will be tight and i gotta tell you, we’re going to be scraping by financially. hate to pass up the chance for my boy though. the school looks like it’ll be a really good fit for him. tuition is gonna hurt since his preschool was only 3k for the whole year. i might need to take on a second job at some point.

my daughter will be starting kindergarten in the fall at my old alma mater.

Funny thing is, the tuition for her then will be about $500 cheaper than the tuition for her now (pre-K).

Already counting the savings.... LOL
