Yeah it's definitely an American problem
Texas isn't the only state that F's up when there's extreme weather
But what do you expect to happen when your Trump's best friend wannabe asss governor is tweeting this type of 💩 Sunday, knowing there's a major storm already impacting millions in his state and will impact millions more in less than 12hrs

No doubt that Texas’ last few governors and it’s US Senators are terrible. Moreover, the impulse to gloat over Texas’ power grid failing is especially strong when there is a whole industry dedicated to writing articles about how Texas’ rugged individualism is the Chad to the socialist virgin that is California. The impulse is strong, it’s justifiable but I check myself from doing so for a few reasons:

1.) unless we’re talking about a presidential election, it’s helpful to not think in terms of red states and blue states.

2.) the articles that say TX>CA are not written by workers in Texas. A lot of those types of articles are written by rich kids in elite make-work jobs in rightwing/pro business think thanks. I bet a lot of, if not a majority of TX>CA articles are written in New York, DC and California. For the right wing of the chattering classes, Texas is an idea, an avatar for coastal reactionaries far more than it is an actual US State.

So I don’t have a problem with people dunking on right wing Texas politicians who took glee in tens of thousands of California workers losing power. But, just like in the discourse over poverty in Deep South States or Appalachia, we must remember that a super majority of eligible voters did not vote for these right wing politicians.

I live in Texas. I’m an NY transplant who’s been in and out of this state for years. Land, housing, veteran friendly programs and the fact I can send my 2 younger kids to any state funded college for free made San Antonio a no-brainer. My family ain’t built for the East anymore. I will say this, it’s a good place.......when it wants to be (for everyone). But this is also the land of these pinheads Greg Abbott, Dan Patrick, Ted Cruz, Dan Crenshaw, etc......... I can’t say I’m surprised we’re in this predicament. Preparation was essential months ago. I guess these stupid ****in officials don’t listen to their own sayings here, “It’s better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.” But credit Biden, dude ain’t on TV or Twitter *****in and moanin about these Trump ****s who didn’t vote for him, he recognized a need for the people (even the critics).

You don’t even have to raise taxes to prevent this. Just don’t be complete idiots.

they probably don’t even require double panes windows in Texas and minimum insulation.

yes the building codes down south is a complete joke. Coming from someone in the industry the **** I see down south is insane.
It takes about a week to build a “Luxury” apartment building in ATL, and you can put em up anywhere...Always got me thinkin how they all gon look in a decade :lol :{

Hey man, if I’m wrong I’m wrong.

I’m just trying to inform nothing more. We keep spreading this lie in the US that we are dependent on the Middle East for oil where it’s far from the truth.

Our oil is supplied by our local neighbors and ourselves. . Now if we are talking about Asia, Africa, and Europe, then yes, they are highly dependent on middle eastern and Russian oil.
