good riddance. i go Atlantic city multiple times a year. i got married in atlantic city. that building has been an eye sore for years. its wild how much of south jersey loves trump even after he personally left a steaming pile of in 💩their backyards.
Well it’s Jersey you’re talking about.

Not sure how much yall understand about whats happening in Texas but here's some info
My power has been rolling off and on since 2am Monday morning, with the longest period being 12hrs from 3:30am-3:30pm Monday

A friend of mine lives less than a mile from me and he's only been without power for about 6hrs max since early Monday

My wife's friend has never lost power and she's about maybe 10 miles from us

I have another friend that lives about 6 miles from me and he's never lost power

There's other people I know that live about 15-20 miles from us and they've been without power for 24+ hrs

The Dallas skyline has been on every night and all of downtown lit up until tonight because so many people complained

The Dallas Stars hockey team was going to play a pro hockey game Monday night until people complained, and the mayor stepped in and told them to cancel an hour before the game was supposed to start

So think about that for a second. The powers that be were going to let a pro hockey team use scarce electricity resources to play a hockey game, but the citizens would be at home without electricity and no heat in 10 degree weather

These aren't rolling blackouts. They are selecting who gets power.

These devils have been pocketing the money to upgrade our energy sourcees, and the asswipes got caught red handed by mother nature

Was talking to my friend in Houston last night, and she told me they've been advised to keep their water faucets on drip mode to prevent freezing. She's, like, "kinda hard to do that when the water is shut off entirely." But, she said she randomly had hot water Tuesday morning, so she took a long hot shower, but now it's been turned off again. At least she has power.

Atlantic City sucked for a min now...N once the states round it started opening up casinos I barely know anybody that still goes there

the shore in general is best when there arent mobs of people down there. selfishly this time of year has always been my favorite time of year to go down. got married at One Atlantic almost exactly a year ago above the water. After the after party we all went to the casino and had whole games to ourselves. loved it and our guests did too

wasn't it Warren's plan to cap student loan forgiveness at $50K and phase it out with income level? that seems sensible to me

the problem with any of these plans (so it seems) is that they are only backwards looking and don't really focus on controlling costs moving forward

how do we control education inflation from govt infusion of capital into the system?

I agree but something immediate needs to happen too. Stop letting these loan companies kill people and stop letting these schools charge whatever they want.

There is nothing in the way power systems are managed that stipulate that, when power supply is lower than the demand, all the end-users connected to the system should share power equally.

In fact, critical users (think communication systems, hospitals and other critical care facilities, military, certain types of industrial users) are prioritized at the expense of non-critical users (residential neighborhoods). This difference can be modeled by indicating which power sources get turned on/off and how often, so if you are connected to a generator that also feeds a critical installation, your chances of losing power are lower than someone who is connected to a source with no critical infrastructure on it.

I'm also wondering if ERCOT even had contingency plans for extremely cold conditions. Everything points to a failure of management, especially if they had recommendations from FERC addressing the state of the grid.

So, yeah these are rolling blackouts AND they are selecting who gets power.

It also shows how what's legal (the typical conservative argument when every other argument fails) is not always ethical.

This is the difficult part. You can continue to pump cash into the system but that does nothing to actually fix the source of the problem which is rising costs. At some point I think they need to start tying funding to institutions based on debt ratios of students who graduate.

As long as colleges continue to get a steady increase in enrollment and tuition payments are all but guaranteed in the form of government loans then nothing is really going to get fixed in the system.
