You said it's cool if Joel Osteen does it right? So the pastor signed off on her speaking in front of their congregation to do it, what's the difference? Aren't they using god and manipulating as well?

All I'm saying that's right on par for how any sermon is gonna go whether you pro vax or anti vax (mark of the beast, ect.). Everything on planet earth is being spoken through the lord to them

And all i'm doing is pointing out how easily they will pander to any demographic in order to manipulate people, no matter how ridiculous it may be.

there's also the part of me that knows how this would have been framed as a "cult like figure & following" if a few subtle changes were made, but i know how that goes in here at this point

Yes. The audit allowed them to find out every voter and their addresses and who they voted for. That was the point.

Because it is wild to me that if I push back on Osh's ideas, or get pissed at ****ty centrist, that somehow crowds out everything else I have said for the past 6 years.

But again, don't let observable reality get in the ay of your take osh kosh bosh

While you criticize progressives the least (nothing wrong with that since you are a progressive), you still do criticize progressives. You’ve criticized Barack Obama, Bernie Sanders (who I think, for this conversation, would fall under the progressive umbrella), Hillary Clinton, and Elizabeth Warren and you voted for all of them so no one politician or ideology is off limits.


So in the broader conversation between you and osh kosh bosh , I think a few points that we could all agree upon are thus,

-Barack Obama’s political communication yields some lessons, it can’t hurt to emphasize the commonalities between ordinary people in red States and blue States.

-Democrats would be well served to incorporate Heather McGhee into their political communication. Tactfully tell the somewhat socially conservative, downwardly mobile white people, that they are hurting their own quality of life by voting as white people instead of voting with fellow workers who are not white.

-while Democrats could pick a small but potentially decisive sliver of the electorate with rhetoric that is more welcoming to certain subsets of older, more rural, and more religious whites; the most important thing for Democrats to do, electorally, is to change the electorate in their favor with increasing turn out both through organizing and by changing federal election laws.
