***Official Political Discussion Thread***

Every time we approach the debt ceiling or just increase spending the media gleefully promotes the fallacious idea that the US government can run out of money and it's really ******* tiring. It doesn't help discourse when we pretend that there's no difference between a government budget and a household budget and that China of all places is somehow keeping the lights on by loaning us our own money. The US is not your uncle with a 590 credit score. There's a difference between running out, and refusing to spend out of spite. Try reporting what's actually happening.

Democrats would be well served to incorporate Heather McGhee into their political communication. Tactfully tell the somewhat socially conservative, downwardly mobile white people, that they are hurting their own quality of life by voting as white people instead of voting with fellow workers who are not white.
