to have more evangelical progressives you'd prob need more pro-life progressives.

can a pro life progressive win a primary?
I think in most cases prob not right?
You can be pro-life and pro-choice. The other side of that argument (the right) simply plays semantics about the true nature of their position, which is best described as pro-forced-birth.

For an evangelical progressive candidate to win any sort of elections, they would have convincingly deconstruct All the assumptions about their faith (from Republicans and from Democrats), and they would also have to convincingly deconstruct the common assumptions that surround the "pro-life" and "pro-choice" terms. In order to successfully do that, they'll have go against those who shape public opinion (and our understanding of abortion) and win that debate first.

if you gotta do all that whats the point? you get none of the political benefits of being pro life and all the downsides.

Imo a pro life pro progressive should just do what Susan Colins does as a pro choice conservative.
Say all the pro life talking points, but don't do anything to materially change the laws in any real way.

that way pro life voters who share your economic ideas will actually vote for you.
aint nobody got time to deconstruct stuff

That's true today, considering the composition of the US electorate. There are a couple of things to remember though: white supremacy is the glue between evangelicals and the GOP, not Christianity, and the GOP cultivated their support among that crowd since the 70s. There is a potential political value in appealing to the socialist teachings of the gospel and constraining them with the outcomes of the current GOP policy platform.

Ya know, Tucker; if you’re worried about parking (which is a real issue) we can build better mass transit. If you’re worried about the greed of real estate developers, let’s have some combination of stringent building codes, tough oversight on landlords, rent stabilization, vacancy taxes, bans on credit checks and criminal history disclosures, fully fund section 8, and a public option for housing as a complement to the private sector.

Oh, you’re worried about preserving the “character” of the neighborhood. Gotcha.
