For an evangelical progressive candidate to win any sort of elections, they would have convincingly deconstruct All the assumptions about their faith (from Republicans and from Democrats), and they would also have to convincingly deconstruct the common assumptions that surround the "pro-life" and "pro-choice" terms. In order to successfully do that, they'll have go against those who shape public opinion (and our understanding of abortion) and win that debate first.
That's true today, considering the composition of the US electorate. There are a couple of things to remember though: white supremacy is the glue between evangelicals and the GOP, not Christianity, and the GOP cultivated their support among that crowd since the 70s.
