It’s never good when innocent people get killed, but I doubt there will be much fallout. Russia will send the families some money, Poland will yell for a bit. Nothing lasts past Christmas.

I think Trump destroys anyone that runs against him the primary. DeSantis gonna be easy work.
I think the fact Biden is not has lively and active as he once was will help DeSantis.
But I have very low opinion of DeSantis political skill. He is a bully in a red state. The second he faces non conservative press he doesn't look good. He is gonna be even more right wing in the following years because of his thinks his reelection gave him a mandate to do so.
But with the spotlight on, doing high profile cruelty, which will make it hard for him to pivot to being more moderate for the general.
I think the only chance he has in 2024 is if everything breaks his way.
In 2028, he would probably be a lock for the GOP nomination. But he will probably be facing a far more dynamic Democratic.
If I were him I would chill until 2028. And hope Biden beats Trump in 2024.

I think Tim Scott's potential is maximized with someone that is not so outwardly and obviously racist.
A furtive racist like Youngkin would benefit the most.
But Trump and DeSantis are so openly hostile to black people. Probably DeSantis more than Trump, and that will make Tim Scott look extremely buttery defending them. And black dudes that hate having to vote Democrat won't want to be looked at as a Tim Scott type.

Like abortion, I think conservatives have gotten way over their skies on the pro gun stuff.
I think the Democrats should push really hard on funding the ATF probably and going after illegal guns. It is something the public support, it is something police support, it is something liberals support.
Dems have to make it salient to voters how much conservatives views contribute to higher rates of violent crime.
