Prosecutors asked for increased sentencing because he deleted evidence from his phone. He was also on probation.
The charges were also for entering the capitol building, he went a bit further than climbing on a police vehicle.

If anything he seems to have gotten off relatively lightly. The judge even said that he obstructed the investigation but he plead down to 4 misdemeanors.
