***Official Political Discussion Thread***

Late to the party here, but what's wild is that I've talked to co-workers from Florida, and a couple of them were, like, "he's a completely different person from the one who was originally elected". They said he actually was fairly sensible and pretty non-intrusive. Then, he saw how Trump came to prominence, and threw it out the window and went super extreme. They said the Disney thing was the end of his career. They said "Disney owns Florida, not the other way around".

My ******** meter was going off like crazy watching this video. Even though I agreed with some of its points

This video is like most videos from modern socialist.

It makes legitimate criticism of capitalism.

Then make the claim that none of these can be fixed, or improved, without completely eliminating capitalism. Which is nonsense.

Then swears it would be fixed under socialism. Not by using rigorous analysis and economic arguments, but anecdotes.

Does both sides ******** regarding Dems and the GOP.

Then acts like there is some consensus among the public that their vision is correct

My criticism of socialism will always be the same. I can't endorse a movement that ask my to be smart and stupid at the same time.

Identify real economic and social problems to hate capitalism, yet ignore another set of economic and social problems to act like socialism is the answer.

Thinking like how dude does in the video is why we end up with things like NIMBY socialist

I really wish there was a serious, an appealing socialist movement in America. Especially one that could take hold in rural America.

But unfortunately most online socialist are marketing themselves just like libertarians do, and they seem oblivious to it.

yeah, I just thought it was interesting. he makes some points but then glosses over a lot of it.

it's pretty clear we can't keep going down the road we're on now, no social safety net or worker protections is my main beef with America.

I did like the part of a minimum baseline for everyone thought, I feel like that could be achieved.

To all the fools that say the Democratic party is pro genocide. Check out this wonderful tweeted by our secretary who has compassion for all people.

I think that to synthesis what mplsdunk mplsdunk and RustyShackleford RustyShackleford are saying, I’d say that finding a common theme for people’s alienation is a great way to get people out of the simplistic, elite serving narratives about America, Hierarchy, and Society, which are hegemonic. But once you’ve broken that barrier, you need to keep pressing.

The fact that capitalism doesn’t serve a lot of people is pretty obvious and pointing it out isn’t adding much. So as someone saw a discrete issue and saw it linked to other discrete issue through the common factor of capitalism, once you know that, you need to:

A.) be rigorous in finding alternatives, because whatever else can be said about capitalism, it’s integral to many aspects of people’s lives. It solves a lot of problems (although many solutions created by capitalism disperse or transfer a problem onto other people) and it’s a question of how would socialists solve problem x, y, and z in a better, faster, and more equitable way.

B.) If you can shed hegemonic narratives about capitalism, you should keep pressing until you see capitalism being both the origin of many inequities and capitalism itself being a constituent part of a broader conglomeration of inequality.

Just like you can’t be a halfway crook, you shouldn’t be a half way social critic.

To stop alienating people we could take the people regulating their jobs from socialism.

At least you’d have some feeling of control and ownership. Vs feeling hopeless and watching corporations steal your wealth and future.

People gotta realize they aren’t capitalists. You’re somebodies capitol who doesn’t give a single f about you. This boot straps and hard work narrative isn’t real.

Def voting for biden

Imagine if this was Trump, he would have signed twice the ammunition and then raped everyone while doing it. Women. Men. Dogs. Cats

Interesting that I can't seem to find any reliable sources confirming this to be true. Not even on the federal registers site. But of course, I'll just take some random persons tweet as fact.
