***Official Political Discussion Thread***

This is what's sad about the whole thing. They saw nothing wrong with it and will continue to spew that kind of rhetoric.

The good thing to come of all of this is that it pissed off a large percentage of the Puerto Rican population.
Check the comments on Fat Joe's IG post here: 3,100 people and counting liked a post that said "I’m from PR and STILL voting Trump button ——>" (the most popular comment by about 6x on the post)

Even a fascist, racist rally to cap off the campaign won't turn away the dumbest people of all races and creeds. The comments are absolutely vile and coming from a lot of Puerto Ricans.

Locked away in Opinion, but with more journalism than 99% of modern news…

Excellent summary on inflation:

The author also appeared on BBG radio this am and really took it to media and even his nervously chuckling colleagues…

The YouTube is still live, so I’ll reply to this with a link once they’ve posted the permanent link.

I remember when I took Caribbean history back in college we had a guest speaker and while her coverage was El Salvador and the exploitation of food industry in that country and not really the Caribbean. What she did touch on was the hierarchical racism in South American and the Caribbean that I never realized until she mentioned it and we later got into the middle 1800s in the class.

Unfortunately a lot of Hispanics have a lot of “well I’m whiter/ better than them so it wasn’t meant for me it was meant for them.” Without realizing that white racists look at those people the same as the darkest skin colored. It’s really funny how people refuse to accept the truth. It’s how Cubans see themselves from the ones I met throughout my life especially. It’s really sad ****.

It's really the biggest lesson from the Holocaust. Doesn't matter what color your skin is. If you're "different" from the group in power and they want to belittle you and take away your rights, take away your freedom, take away your life... they'll find a way if they're not checked by ALL people.

And it's particularly troubling that we're watching the same nazi rhetoric play out and groups who have historically been marginalized, ridiculed, and killed in the name of racism are STILL on board with this vile BS. It makes me physically ill that education has failed this country so f'ing badly.

Man, saw this in response to something on Twitter and it hit hard...

Happens with people I know well who are in the Polish community. I’m like our great grand parents and great great grandparents were in the first line and went to death camps for this **** and died. Our grand parents were raised in WW2 oppression and you are okay with this Nazi symbolism. Like are you ******* stupid or something? “Yea but it’s different this time but they are talking about non whites.” I tell them that they are stupid outright and take it how they want. American evangelicals hate Catholics. I’m like you are next in line you are just too dumb to see it.
