***Official Political Discussion Thread***

"Over the last few days, I have learned most New Orleanians don’t know about the oldest hustle in our city. The Audubon Institute, The Library Foundation, The Police Foundation, Greater New Orleans, Inc., and many others are PRIVATE entities with governmental sounding names who get funding directly from our billion dollar tax treasury. Depleting our funding for police, fire, EMT, department of public works. The reasoning is economic development and recruitment. We budget for the office of economic development, the NOPD recruitment, and the library. So why are we giving millions away to these private groups claiming to do the same thing? The Audubon Institute gets more than our police department NOPD. Why? It’s the age old political graft. When the government then fails, you have the politicians they put in place, to keep these agreements in place. The politicians then take the blame for the dysfunctional system and attention is diverted away from the real problem of the hustle. The State Government is in the same symbiotic relationship with the oil/chemical companies that brought us “cancer alley” between Baton Rouge and New Orleans; the highest cancer rate in the country. We in Louisiana subsidize our own death with tax subsidies to the richest industry in the history of mankind: the oil companies. Billions of tax dollars for “ development”. What I thought was common knowledge in New Orleans and Louisiana…isn’t. I blame myself. I am complicit. Because we keep putting them in control of government and I haven’t done enough to stop it. We have ourselves to blame."

More of this from leftist magazines in 2025.

A Financial Times article with socialist characteristics.

I’m campaigning for Treatler for Webster’s new word of the year (“brain rot” won in 2024)

Winning Webster’s WOTY is a lot like winning a Heisman, the candidate needs boosters to promote them early and often.

mostly hate. most people still have enough nationalism to not like it.
and the french speakers would obviously hate it.
They can just sneakily convert the Mainers back to the French language - they already have the last names - and break away with a bigger Quebec.

Only segment of the country that might not flat out be offended by the idea from the offset are the Alberta separatist kooks and even then, thats a negligible number that will only dwindle further with Trudeau on the outs :lol

Only way that could ever be executed in reality would be by force again, never ever willingly by the population

So since winning elections isn’t the be all end all, seems like in the future, Democrats should nominate candidates whose policies they like.

If there is no sure fire way to ensure a general election win through careful triangulation and candidates are largely at the mercy of global economic forces, voters’ fickleness, and the mode of podcasters and streamers, 24 year old’s feelings about their access to treats, etc. then let’s not fret too much about “electability” since that seems totally contingent on the “political climate,” over which no one has any control.

This is why you can't trust leftists when it comes to the housing crisis.
They don't care about it, they just want to use it as an excuse to talk about their BS.

it's all fake. you can't take any of them seriously when they fixate on fake boogey men like blackrock, and foreign investors.:sick:

Osh being annoyed at a small group of online individuals and makes a broad generalization about an entire group as a result vol. 14858585
lol "small group of online individuals" this is Jacobin the biggest leftist online publication.

If you get involved at all with housing politics at all, you'll learn how common it is.
The "black rock/foreign is buying all the homes" is INCREDIBLY common. It's pushed by leftists but normies absolutely believe it and it's incredibly difficult to deal with because it's a convenient scapegoat that lets people ignore the real problem.

His diet’s not going to improve and with the stress I’d not be surprised if he strokes out after 2 years at most.

The main problem is that then we’re left with Vance which is a terrifying prospect.
