People have not been taking Trump seriously for a very long time, and calling his expansionist statements stupid is the surest way to wake up surprised when the news announces that the US military is occupying parts of Greenland.This is so stupid
After all, he CAN deploy the military without Congressional authorization, and his shortsighted *** only needs to give the order to invade to trigger a territorial conflict the US legislature will not back out of for fear of losing face.

It only proves the point you made if it isn't an incredible generalized opinion of the left in North America. The reality is that it is.
Jacobin. The biggest leftist magazine. Cenk Ugyurr of TYT repeated this meme recently at an event. The most popular leftist streamer Hassan repeats this blackrock meme...it's a well known meme within the general left so much so that Outlets like Vox and the American Prospect have written multiple debunkings.
The reason I say you can't trust them is that downtown areas that are incredibly hostile to development are usually represented by very left city councilors.
And they need to make up a reason to oppose development without looking like a NIMBY so they usually pivot to this meme.
I don't think you can trust that their motives are pure. And I think that it's a totally reasonable inference to draw based off of what they say and their continual in action on housing.
