***Official Political Discussion Thread***

I love how Ninja still pushes this "anti-establishment" shtick when it comes to Trump, yet Trump's cabinet looks like the Koch Brothers hand picked it.

All these so called moderates/centrist :rolleyes just handled the country over to the far-right, because a con man made them promises that anyone with sense knows they can't keep.

Petraeus is back in the picture? :rollin :rollin

Of course his incompetence would make him an asset to the Trump team :lol

he masterminded da Iraqi surge...

his downfall was being chatty patty to his side chick for her book.
you're ok with his breach of classified info but not Hillary's server?

who said i was ok with it? point being he was good at his job, Hillary? not so much.
it would've been nice to have focused on the issues this past year instead of dwelling on emails and fake news.

fake news? care to point out an example? 8o

u know those podesta emails were 100% official tissue, and Hillary dug her own grave wit her private server use.
Of course. Why, ninja, I thought you spent 6 hours a night following the news. It's shocking to me (and I'm sure the rest of the posters in here) that you somehow did not realize that there was a huge amount of fake news during this past election.

Let me educate you, friend.

"Pope Francis Shocks World, Endorses Donald Trump for President, Releases Statement"
This was posted by Ending the Fed and was shared 960,000 times on Facebook. The title is self-explanatory. It claimed that the Pope endorsed Trump. Which is of course ridiculous, given that Pope Francis said this about Trump: a person who “only thinks about building walls … and not building bridges is not Christian.” Not to mention the Pope's statements and modernization of the church since being appointed Pope often run in direct contrast to what Trump wants and may signal a migration of Catholic voters to the left over the next decade.

There are tons of other examples but rather than go through them one-by-one, here is an article about how Russians may have been behind the fake news.

It truly troubles me, good sir, that you were not aware of fake news and how widespread it was. I wonder if I had had a chance to reach you earlier, maybe you would have voted for Hillary instead. After all, "fake news" was spread by Republicans 2:1 versus Democrats, so it's fairly likely that you based your vote (and many other Trump voters) on false information.

Well, good day, sir, and thank you for allowing me the opportunity to educate you on this fine Monday afternoon.

who follows this gobbledy****? :lol :{

i consume twice as much time in news aggregation and i don't run into fake news, maybe u need to check ur sources.

maybe u should worry about da democrats pulling themselves out of being a regional marginal fringe party.

Maybe you should get your right wing talking points ready for when Trump doesn't deliver.

-There will be no wall

-Paul Ryan is going to cut social insurance programs

-Coal jobs can't come back

-There will be huge deficits

These things will happen, so you better start hitting up Fox News daily to get your deflections ready.

Well then props to you.

I don't have time to go through every page in this thread, but I know at least a couple of people on here who repeatedly peddled fake news as real, not to mention all the people on facebook, etc, who post it as if it's real news.

The ultimate irony is that people who voted for Trump, did so to absolve themselves from their own brand of politics.

When Obama was running the country, it was easy to tell Mexicans, blacks, and the poor to "pick themselves up by the bootstraps" and preached about the free market and personal responsibility.

However, when you think about it, free trade agreements are a form of deregulation. Letting goods move freely from place to place without government inference or excessive taxation.

But when they found out that these people found out the visible hand of the market is not a white supremacist, does not have their best interest at heart, they run to Trump for some good ole government intervention in their favor. Funny, I would think all these people that lost their jobs to machines, Mexicans, or Chinese factory workers would be up early every morning ready to pick themselves up by their bootraps, not living in economic despair demanding the government's help. I thought that behavior was exclusive to da lazy blacks and entitled debt strapped liberals.

To add to the irony, now these same people that voted in Trump are in fear that he might cut their health insurance, one of the few ways the government conspires in their favor.

But yeah, it should all work out in the end. Giving rich people loads of tax cuts, and cutting the social safety from underneath the poor won't backfire. I mean rich people WILL HAVE TO create more jobs, even though the consumer base will continue to erode, and it is not like the tax code will have ways for the rich to not spend their money in the economy, and still make tons of money................oh wait, it does :lol

-Ryan and McConnell don't want a wall, we are getting more fencing at most

-Ryan and McConnell, especially Ryan, both want cuts to social insurance programs, we are getting cuts

-Coal jobs were declining since 1979. And the fracking boom ran it a major fade. It will frack more, we hurt coal more.

-Supply side economics, especially in the form of huge tax breaks to the rich have always cause huge deficits. They did under Reagan, and they did under Bush. This is a fact. With not cuts, real GDP growth will have to be in the double digits. With massive austerity, GDP will also have to be at sustained late 90s level for like a decade to maybe pull it off. The problem is, austerity hurt GDP growth a ton. And the Fed will be increasing interest rates in the coming years.

Famb, look around, Donny gonna be your run of the mill right wing president.

but u wish Trump fails so there goes ur objectivity :lol

if Trump accomplishes everything he sets out to do & da Country flourishes as a result, his administration will be considered avant garde.

If "ifs" and "butts" were candy and nuts......

I said I wish the country does well and Trump fails as president, the two aren't mutually exclusive.

Here is the thing, even Trump getting everything, does not guarantee the country flourishes as a result. Especially economically. Something who knows economics would knows this, but I guess..............

The writing is already on the wall in regards to Trump failing, just look at his appointees

Speaking of fake news, this was the next deputy national security advisor just in March...

Country good = Trump fails to deliver on his promises.

Country bad = Trump delivers on all his promises.

Why? Because his policies are a repeat of the Bush-era policies and aim to undo things that the Obama administration has done and that Americans have come to like and/or rely on.

One things I have always respected about Hillary, is how much fear and rustle she could instill in Republicans, especially the men.

Imagine, a bunch of good ole boys, that complain about the political correctness, spent decades upon decades trying to smear this woman and telling the world how dangerous she is. They spent millions doing this, and the ones that finally somewhat succeeded where the Russian government and white supremacist. People the right wing swear they want no association with,.

Hillary being in power, was such a threat to these clowns, you would sworn that castration of right wing males was on her platform. But hey, when you feeling of being a man is dependent on not being challenged, I guess having a women in charge should scare the **** outta you.

What is funny, people tend to forget, this started really with Bill. Bill was a poor white Southerner would even though his asinine politics aligned with moderates in the GOP, he was hated partly because he showed empathy to minority groups. This was because he grew up around them.

He constantly boasted about how good the late 90s economics was for black and Latinos relative to the past, he took pride in this, and the GOP hated this.

Bill was viewed by many as white trash, and the worst kind of white trash, the kind that mingles with the people that weren't his "kind"

Seems like the GOP only wants rich, white, male, and sws. All else need not apply.

Obama extended them once for all, and a second time for the lower class (which was a compromise with the GOP Obama wanted a lower threshold than he got), they expired for the higher brackets (450 K) and above. We have had this discussion before, and I believe I provided links so you could disabuse yourself of this ignorant talking point. I see you did not make the effort.

The tax policies did fail, they didn't produce the growth they promised and squandered our surplus and threw away the chance at having no national debt. They were failed policies economically.

Stop using political events to argue economics. You just make yourself look silly.
