I'd like to hear from other informed people on their thoughts for tax cuts on the rich. It's always been a scam to me and I'll give the report a read when I have time, but unlike the president that has no idea what GDP is, I'm far from an expert on economics

To me it's ultimately just asking for there to be more corruption (extra money to influence politics for the rich,) and make more of an aristocracy

Not as informed but the way I see it, if you make more, your tax rate should be higher, you're going to write things off to lower your income anyway.

Wealthy people will pay more for food, clothes, cars, homes, etc. but scoff at paying more in taxes :lol

Not all wealthy people scoff at paying more for taxes
But a majority of them think that government regulation and paying for more of it will affect their profit margins and pockets in general.

However, it's human nature for people to be selfish in general, but I also think that governmental spending should be more transparent, as we know the majority of public spending doesn't actually go to social programs, rather to the millitary. A lot of people don't know it surprisingly.

Agreed. over 50% of our budget goes to military and less than 3% go to social programs if I'm not mistaken, which is why we're in the state that we are. Our government spending should be more transparent to a point where the people know what our tax dollars are going to, but not to the point where it threatens national safety.

And of course, not all wealthy people scoff at paying more taxes, which is crazy because if some of the wealthiest people in our country (Gates and Buffett) are advocates for more taxes on the rich, then I don't even know.lol

I will be a devil advocate and say that the people like Gates and Buffett would like a tax increase not only just because they care about people, but they also don't want to keep pumping in more and more money that they earned into their foundations. Like if the government was actually dedicated to more spending on social programs, would those two need to spend as much millions into charitable and societal contributions?

Then again, those two have spent a lot regardless no matter what administration we are in. They do a lot of corporate social responsibility while most CEOs half***** it

In regards to the tax rate, the normal income tax rate will probably be kept and wouldn't go back to the Clinton admin rates.

However, I expect the long term capital gains tax to be reduced even more. That's where the majority of wealthy people get their income from.

An important side story: Trump said he would "defund California." Gov's request for federal emergency relief filed 3 days ago. No response.

how is keeping more of da money you make a scam? 8o :lol

When you present it as a better way to stimulate the economy that demand side spending, yes, it definitely is a scam.

You want to argue that people should keep more of their tax dollars, fine. But don't pedal that it is so great for the economy.

And if we are talking about tax cuts for the rich, then the rich should be willing to have austerity imposed on them, not the middle class.

Ironically, the county where the dam break would affect the most is a Trump majority county

God bless them

This and the estate tax. Most probably contribute the max to their 401Ks so their income is lessened anyway.

There are rumors that congress is looking to abolish the estate tax all together

Repealing the estate tax is the biggest joke. First of all wealthy people get around it with tax planning anyway. Trust me I've see it during an internship where my group specialized in high net worth individuals and their trusts. Less than 2% of people will ever pay this if even that. Argument is small business don't get past down and such. Oh spare me the BS, one didn't plan it properly if that's the issue.

It's just an easy way for only the wealthy to avoid a tax. Children who were spoon fed shouldn't live off their parents hard work for generations. That goes against everything this country is built upon about working for your own so that argument is completely false. But the Koch brothers and the like will always push this. And somehow the poor white person from the south somehow is for this even though their chance of ever reaching that level of wealt is less than .0001%

You DO know that taking advantage of rent control while you make 100k (as you claim) is literally YOU scamming the system, makes sense you share the same ideology of Republicans....except you are far easier to please.

Sounds about right, just like w/ the income tax for the wealthy. They have ways to limit their income that people in lower tax brackets can't really do. So the 35% rate, and they end up payin less in comparison percentage wise than those in lower tax brackets.
