huh? hawaii or nordstrom's is off limits to trump supporters??

now i don't support this bill...but if indeed this bill is as explained in this vid (even if it were to somehow to offer to cover more expenses for individuals, both young & old) isn't this for profit healthcare/market decided healthcare at work? why shouldn't older people pay more if they indeed will need/use more healthcare?? given how the expected surge in the older baby boomer generation is going to stress the system and raise healthcare costs, why should the young/healthy pay more to subsidize the cost for healthcare they won't use???

because no one (excluding the top 1%) can afford health care when they need it.

so the best way to make it work is that everyone puts in a little when they can afford to.

and the fundamental issue is whether health care should be a free market system. most humanity decided it shouldn't be and you would know why if you ever dealt with medical insurers.

ultimately access to health care should be a separate issue from cost of health care. aca and this new proposal don't really address cost. regardless of who pays, someone will pay.

edit: Nordstrom's and Hawaii are not off limits to anyone. but they cater to people who tend to be liberal, just like the arts and things like npr or higher education. many conservative indulge in such things as well but i have yet to meet a trump supporter who does (Mike pence, maybe? he went to Hamilton. although we all know deep down he is cheering harder than anyone against trump).

The typical Trump supporter can't afford to shop at Nordstrom's or fly to Hawaii, so I don't understand the point of Trump voters trying to mass boycott places they never go to anyway. That's like me saying I'm going to boycott Ferrari when I'm not even close to being able to afford one. I didn't mean that there are actually rules in place preventing them from going there.

-Older people do pay more currently

-The fundamental principle of insurance is the ones that use the service less, subsidize the ones that use it more.

-Sick old people are just not going to go die on peace, they will still use health services and bankrupt themselves, this will lead to higher cost for everyone.

-If you encourage free riding my young people, cost rise more. Even for the sick young person

-Young people become old people, everyone's reckoning will come.

Health insurance should not be left up to the free market because many of the factors needed for a well functioning capitalist market don't exist in the healthcare industry.

Btw, most people in this country have their health insurance subsidized by the federal government. Even if you get insurance through a private company.

Let Paul Ryan strip the people on employer plans of their tax credits and breaks, and see how quickly a public option and single payer become popular

Galveston instead of Hawaii? :lol

this is what happens when you've never left your borough. you think Galveston is comparable to Hawaii.

I'm from the Galveston area.

Son didn't have the greenbacks to go to Hawaii, point blank.

these are the people that leave trash on the beach and behave boorishly. we prefer our steady supply of tourists from japan who appreciate our island vacation destination [emoji]127996[/emoji]

Oh, and this should go without saying - but directing insults/personal attacks towards other NikeTalk members is not allowed on our forums.  If you truly believe in decency and civility, you can't just show it when it's convenient.  To do otherwise is like saying "I believe in nonviolence.... unless someone does something I don't like."

"Wrong is wrong, no matter who does it or says it."

Bannon been exposing himself. The GOP will not act on all the info that's out there until it is politically convenient to do so.

This is why they should all be voted out of congress, regardless of whether their healthcare bill fails or whether they implement some sort of infrastructure bill. They have been proving time and time again that they are willing to gamble with the viability of our institutions in order to get cheap wins. It's a very damaging approach.

Funny seeing all these conservatives talking about "boycotting" Hawaii, they're making it an even more desirable vacation spot.

Given the fact that it's not just Hawaii that's overruled the orange manbaby,I wonder if they'll also be boycotting a lot of those other states. It's gotta be dozens by now :lol
