I think its time for me, and maybe others, to stop having this "eventuality complex."
I'll only speak for me, but I have this thought that eventually America will come around to a way of positive thinking. That we are better working together than against eachother. That having hope or faith in America (like Obama) had is truly naïve, and not worth it.
I lost the love and pride I had in this country when they voted for a racist, but its like stupidity is "digging in" and there's little to nothing that can be done.
Minority numbers are suppose to grow and grow and get this old racist regime out from the forefront, but its not happening, they (the gop) are not going to let up.
Good luck to all who continue to fight the good fight.
I do think we have to let go of this fantasy that the other side will somehow come around.
We also need to stop thinking of the typical Republican as the redneck who shows up to a trump rally. No, the typical Republican is the upper-middle class family in the suburbs.
Their only concern with social issues is "keep it away from me." They want to be able to keep more of their money so that they can pretend to be rich.
This whole time I hear about how Democrats need to have a message for working class Americans, those who are struggling to get by and desperately want their coal mining jobs back. But what about suburban whites? Do Democrats have anything for them?
Also, I think at some point, at least ideally, it needs to stop being all about Democrat vs Republican. From a distance, they look the same, at least in twitter rants, etc. At some point, as much as we need Democrats to take the House in 2018, I'd like to see some good people rise up in the Republican party who won't follow the party line. I know, this is fantasy, but along with Democrats winning some elections we also need the political system and how it filters down through media and social media to change for the better.
