Chris Christie shut down the government because he wanted to pass a budget that raided the fund used to pay government workers health insurance policies; and then use that money on clinics treating the opioid crisis
Not only that, he wanted it done in such a way that opened the door for him getting what he wanted, and still being able to veto the rest of the budget
Dude supports a clown that wants to cut funds to fight the epidemic on a federal level, and when NJ Dems want to help people on the state level, he tried to use that as a back door to say one last **** you to public unions.
And then he has the guts to be a bigger d-bag and go on beach anyway.
There is nothing funny or condemnable about this clown's actions. Using aid for people in need as a bargaining chip to **** over public workers is not flexin

In an amoral and apolitical sense, Chris Christie did great. I believe that governor is the best job in all of politics. On a day to day basis, being President of the United states actually sounds pretty unappealing. But when you can become the first citizen of your home State, you know that you've made it. In Christie's case, he did so as an overweight person in society that, collectively, disdains fat people. If Christie had run in 2012, he might have won. As Trump showed in 2016, a Northern white supremacist can flip great lake states while also dominating in the sun belt. But hindsight is 20/20 and before Trump, the conventional wisdom was that candidate from either Party had to be thin, perfectly dressed, perfectly coiffed and ideally came from the sunbelt.
Christie helped to feed my last gasp pf libertarianism. In 2013, he called Rand Paul and the "libertarians" in Congress dangerous. He said that in an attempt to resurect George w. Bush's post 9/11 political capital which was based on fear. George F. Will delivered one of the finest rejoinders...

The Tea Party are not principled or pragmatic. They want austerity because they believe it is the best way to inflict as much harm on the poor and minorities, so they can get their donors tax breaks.

I read that headline a while back that he was the only one who could visit the beach, and thought to myself "I wonder if that pos actually goes to the beach".
