Trump: US justice system a 'laughing stock,' 'joke'
President Trump on Wednesday referred to the U.S. justice system as a "joke" and a "laughing stock."

Speaking during a Cabinet meeting Wednesday, Trump mourned the lives lost in the attack Tuesday in New York.

He said the country needs to come up with "punishment that's far quicker and far greater than the punishment these animals are getting right now."

"They'll go through court for years. At the end, they'll be — who knows what happens. We need quick justice and we need strong justice, much quicker and much stronger than we have right now," he said.
"Because what we have right now is a joke and it's a laughing stock and no wonder so much of this stuff takes place."

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders during the Wednesday press briefing, however, disputed a reporter's characterization that the president called the system of justice in this country a "joke."

"That's not what he said," she said.

"He said the process has people calling us a joke and calling us a laughing stock."

Sanders said Trump was pointing out his frustration at "how long this process takes, how costly this process is, and particularly for someone to be a known terrorist."

"That process should move faster," she said. "That's the point he's making and that's the frustration he has."
The comments come after eight people were killed and more injured after a driver drove a truck into a bicycle path in lower Manhattan.

The alleged attacker, Sayfullo Saipov, came to the United States from Uzbekistan. Media reports following the attack indicated he may have gained entry through the diversity visa program.

Trump also said Wednesday he will ask Congress to end that immigrant visa program.

What does this even mean?

"Because what we have right now is a joke and it's a laughing stock and no wonder so much of this stuff takes place."

It means that, like any true authoritarian, Trump views the right to a trial by jury to be unnecessary.
A sentiment like that coming from the President should be unsettling for obvious reasons.

I'm sure you know what it means
The headline is an accurate representation of what is said in the article. It also provides some additional context by adding Sanders' statements.
Enlighten us then, where do you see any issue with this article?
If that's not what Trump meant, then maybe he should think a bit more before he opens his moutth. He's the president, not some random guy on the street. Words (should) matter.

Reading into those statements without the context of the event he was commenting on is disingenuous.

Talking about gun control after Vegas = Politicizing a tragedy

Changing immigration policies right after NYC attack = Ok?

The right, ladies and gentlemen.

They play by a different set of rules...no rules

The video of the event is right there in the article. The addition of SHS' comments also provide the context of the event he was commenting on as if that wasn't obvious.
Did you actually read the article and watch the video or only read the headline?
It is quite literally right there for anyone with a functioning brain to read.

Even tho he posted the link to the article that has the video of him saying these things?
Even tho the part of the artile he linked shows that the discussion was around the recent tragedy in NYC?

I did both. I assume you are familiar with the term clickbait. That headline is clickbait.

Yes, that's why I said "headline to substance ratio." Do you even know what you are commenting on?

I see that Donna Brazille ran out of damns in her book...:nerd:

HILLARY CLINTON ROBBED BERNIE SANDERS OF THE DEMOCRATIC NOMINATION, ACCORDING TO DONNA BRAZILE

Hillary Clinton’s campaign took over the Democratic National Committee's funding and day-to-day operations early in the primary season and may have used that power to undermine her rival Senator Bernie Sanders, according to the party's one-time interim chairwoman.

The DNC official, Donna Brazile, now a political analyst, wrote in Politico Magazine on Thursday that she discovered an August 2015 agreement between the national committee and Clinton’s campaign and fundraising arm that gave Clinton “control (of) the party’s finances, strategy, and all the money raised” in exchange for taking care of the massive debt leftover from President Barack Obama’s 2012 campaign.

It wasn't illegal, Brazile said, "but it sure looked unethical.

That's not the idea behind the post, so I must ask you...

What is the idea? The reason most people think the gun control stuff is dumb after an attack is because there's no way to say that it would have prevented it. Murder is already illegal, but a murderer would adhere to gun laws?

Given a lot of the mass shootings committed by whites, the guns were purchased legally.....

I'm not implying anything Donna Brazile hasn't admitted herself though, think it's a positive actually. They can focus of improving everything and making sure future primaries and elections are ran smoother and more impartially now instead of still relitigating what happened
Relitigating what happened to under funded state parties is good. The DNC main problem was not an rigged primary, it was fair. It was the DNC not properly funding down ticket races properly, which has costed them dearly.

-Brazile is looking like a clown already btw, Nate Silver pointed out that she used DNC to help boost Hillary's popular vote numbers. In fear Trump would win the popular vote but lose by electoral college vote.

The DNC has not been ran by someone with sense since Howard Dean.

Donna Brazile Says Clinton Campaign Took Over The DNC
The former interim DNC chair writes that she “followed the money” to find a “shocking truth.”

By Paige Lavender

Donna Brazile, former interim chair of the Democratic National Committee, opened up about the financial chaos within the DNC and said that Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign gained control of the committee well before Clinton was the party’s nominee.

Politico featured an excerpt from Brazile’s book Hacks: The Inside Story of the Break-ins and Breakdowns that Put Donald Trump in the White House, which comes out Nov. 7. In it, Brazile describes finding out that the Clinton campaign was keeping the DNC financially afloat, “for which [Clinton] expected to wield control of its operations,” Brazile writes.

Brazile says she was in the dark about the committee’s financial situation when she took over as interim chair. She writes that Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.), the previous chair, “hadn’t been very interested in controlling the party.”

Brazile said Wasserman Schultz had allowed the DNC’s spending to get out of control before striking a deal with Clinton’s campaign “to sustain the DNC,” in the words of the Clinton campaign’s chief financial officer, Gary Gensler.

The excerpt concludes with Brazile’s phone call to Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Clinton’s Democratic opponent in 2016, during which Brazile tells Sanders that Clinton’s campaign had taken power over the DNC’s finances long before Clinton defeated him.

“When I hung up the call to Bernie, I started to cry, not out of guilt, but out of anger,” Brazile writes. “We would go forward. We had to.”

Brazile has spoken about her displeasure with the DNC before, saying she “knew things were amiss” when she stepped in as interim chair.

Brazile resigned as a CNN contributor in late Oct. 2016 after WikiLeaks released an email showing that she’d received advance questions before a town hall event and gave them to Clinton’s campaign. Brazile later called that move “a mistake I will forever regret.”

Representatives for Clinton, Sanders, Wasserman Schultz and former President Barack Obama did not immediately reply to HuffPost’s request for comment.
