A man can hope can't he? Didn't say I expected it :lol::smh:

Hate seeing coups where the end result is just a fresh coat of paint on the same ****...
didn't mean to jump down your throat....ive just been reading about zimbambwe and finished a book on dictatorships ands clear this is a fresh coat of paint scenario.:smh:

the only reason this didn't end eitn mugabe getting dragged through the streets id because china said no violence.

Yea I hear you, it is hard to be optimistic about coups on the continent unfortunately |l

China is def the new sheriff in Africa now. Different faces, same neocolonial playbook it seems :smh:. To their credit though, they've been helping develop infrastructure and investing quite a lot all around in exchange for the raw material and minerals they get so at least the arrangements aren't as overwhelmingly one sided as in the past.

No wonder the manbaby has stepped up American activity and troop deployment in the region big time this year

The Zimbabwe situation reads like a love triangle gone wrong.

Basically, the ousted VP was Mugabe's right hand and even orchestrated massacres to subjugate one region of the country with separatist aspirations in the 80's. Seems that he was promised control of the country until Grace came in between both and got old Mu to let her have the VP position. Dude wasn't having it and decided to call the army to get what he was owed.

Different paint on same **** indeed.

And we wonder why Trump won the election ...

This board is a microcosm of society ... We have the majority of conversation being dominated by left-leaning, narrow minded folks who are held to a lower standard of decorum under the guise of having a "more accurate" opinion ...

Then, as with mainstream media, the few dissenting voices are censored in the form of warnings or bans ...

In the end, we have the Hillary effect where the majority of people in discussion are reinforcing their comrades' opinions, while a groundswell of revolt brews ... We all saw how this situation ends up which is why I am comfortable with it ...

Do I think the Republicans will win the next presidential election? No, given the divisive rhetoric of our president and the come to Jesus moment that the Left had after experiencing the epic L that I described above ... But it gives me peace that the courts are engrained with conservative values for decades and the lethargic bug will most certainly bite the liberal elites down the road - probably 2028 after 8 years of another empty suit Liberal ...
Ninjahood was blatantly insulting other users due to their nation of origin. Niketalker23 engaged in name calling. Both were suspended from the thread. If you think that Ninjahood's xenophobic (arguably racial) insults represent a legitimate political view that's being suppressed, you're essentially proving Mr. Serwer's point.

As I've said many times, I think reasonable people can disagree about matters of taxation, the role of government in society, foreign policy, etc. Racism, however, is not something that reasonable people ought to consider a valid political view.

With respect to the content of the article itself, I think other users have every right to inquire about why, exactly, it is that you're here under a new account name when you claim you've been on NikeTalk since 2002.

You're resistant to volunteering that information, and I imagine you'd be upset if I chose to research the matter and disclose the post(s) that led to the termination of your previous account(s).

If you believe that conservatives have been unfairly generalized, it seems hypocritical at best to act as though progressives want to "expel" or exterminate all White people. I don't recall that being part of Bernie Sanders' platform. (Or Corey Booker, or Kamala Harris, or Elizabeth Warren, and so on.)

I think you'll find that what the overwhelming majority of progressives want is for everyone to have a seat at the table. That's hardly a call to round up all the White people in the way that Trump wants to round up all the "illegal immigrants" and ship them off to their presumed countries of origin.

Progressives don't want an end to White citizenship, only an end to White Supremacism and White hegemony. Is that truly so threatening?

As Patton Oswalt put it in a recent bit about "white genocide" hysteria, "“White people… we used to be in charge of, like, 99.9% of [stuff]. And in recent years, that number has plummeted to 96.4%. We are on the way out." "I used to watch Schindler's List, and that's a great movie, but I could never completely relate to it. But then, The Force Awakens came out, and there was a Black stormtrooper, I was like, holy ___. I totally understand Auschwitz now. I get it. When he took his helmet off and it was a Black guy, that was our Trail of Tears."

As has so often been noted, "‘When you’re accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression.’

Over the years, we've had a few posters show up, seemingly terrified that the chickens will come home to roost and White Americans will be enslaved or exterminated in retribution for their ancestors' sins (because they don't believe in contemporary racism as anything other than an excuse used by lazy minorities). That often manifests itself as "I read this article that five White farmers in South Africa were slaughtered by Black People. I found the link on a site that I browse often but don't want to talk about - but that doesn't matter because the story is totally real and it's happening. White people are being killed for being White."

Every such poster, to a man, was later caught slipping and posted something overtly racist. T-Bone, CL-1B, Titanium Tea, ryanbbn, Blco02, oneilmatt, and Ben Roethlisberger come to mind, to name but a few.

That you, by your own admission, have been here since 2002, other community members are justified in wondering, "which one are you?"

That's not, I would hope, because the thread's regulars want to run everyone who disagrees about policy issues out of the community. Rather, it's a matter of defending our shared community values and preventing those who have abused our platform to promote racism from doing so again.

NikeTalk is not Facebook. It is not Twitter. It is not Reddit. We're not about "tolerating intolerance" to appeal to the lowest common denominator and welcome the broadest possible audience. Indeed, NikeTalk began, in large part, because those of us who started the forum were fed up with the racist hate speech that became commonplace on the unmoderated message board we frequented in the late 1990's. When we created our own community, we thus required all community members to treat each other with basic respect. Ninjahood and NikeTalker23 failed and will thus sit this discussion out for awhile.

No user has ever been banned for "being conservative" - unless you consider racism, sexism, or homophobia core conservative values.

What was the name of the book famb? Put me on

the dictators handbook.

the thesis is basically there are only two types of goverment "large coaltition" and "small coalition" and all the other distinctions are irrelevant. it's kind of stuff that seems obvious but the way they lay it out is compelling and fun to read.

he talks about mugabe in it too.

In fact in the book they taqlk about how a dictator is most vulnerable when he is old or dying and can't secure the long tem future of his coalition. :lol

I refuse to let you fool EVERYONE, Meth, lol ... The article that everyone is fawning over says it is likely that everyone who voted for Trump is overtly or subconsciously racist ... You can't run from that portion of the article much like I apparently cannot run from any and everything that Trump has ever said or done in the past ... And you sit here a wonder why, after being called a racist time and time again by posters, i have lost a little faith in your objectivity? Being a racist is one of the worst things to be labeled and yet calling someone a racist on this board is accepted and condoned, even when devoid factual basis ...

I have seen your censorship for quite some time on this forum and have grown to accept it ... As a mod and stalwart liberal, you have every right to suspend dissent as you see fit ... If I really don' like it, I would have stopped coming here years ago ... This has been and always will be a shoe forum and I treat it as such ...

As for my history, I haven't actively posted on this forum in probably 5 years ... So long ago I couldn't even tell you my last screen name lol ... I remember being banned for posting a link to firstrow when that was first a thing and way back when for some ******** (the talk of the hood is censored?! Lol) stuff lol ... Life gets in the way fellas, I have two degrees, a successul career and young family ... Not everyone is an unsub with a criminal past ...

Thanks famb.

It would be funny as hell if father time keeps him alive and lucid for another decade. So his soul can burn seeing some else run the country.
