They trend towards the middle not because they move, but because the country naturally moves left as time goes on.
So people might get relatively more moderate but they are still as liberal as they used to be.
The news they consume is very important. If someone is watches PBS or CNN that will not have much of an impact on their ideology. If they watch a ton of Fox News, they will get push right really hard.
Like with Trump, Fox News seems to have had a major impact of him going from a right leaning moderate to a hardcore conservative.

I'm surprised at the lack of pushback I'm seeing against one of our major parties since they announced they are pushing for an open debate to further expand our euthanasia law. I know the current euthanasia law is generally very popular here but I assumed there would be far more criticism given that the party wants to push for expanding the euthanasia criteria to individuals who don't necessarily fit the current standards of "unbearable suffering", which is basically terminal illnesses and a number of awful degenerative diseases. I think there's a chance it could pass eventually. Either way a debate isn't going to be an issue.
Some years ago when we passed euthanasia for children it didn't run into all that much resistance. At least not from within the country.
The party chairman heading this current proposal was also on CNN a few years ago when we were getting child euthanasia through parliament.

I can't fathom the type of cognitive deficiency required to tout an article that literally states and suggests that every Trump voter in one way or another, is racist ... All 60 million of them ...
I did find the part about a decade of minority economic erosion to be insightful ... the first time I have seen a left-leaning outlet admit, as I've suggested on this board numerous times, that Obama was a terrible representative of minority economic liberation, landing instead a damaging blow to their socioeconomic status ... But that was Bush's fault too, I guess, right?
