Not to mention the fact that when the bring up Mary and Joseph BOTH of them were teenagers
Not only that, but I remember one of those Alabama politicians were like “ Mary wouldn’t have had Jesus if Joseph wasn’t around”
Like what? God put that seed in her, she was still a virgin....what version of the Bible were they reading lol

Is it fair to label them as bible thumpers though? I'm asking legitimately. Seems that most of these dudes don't even believe in their religion and just use it as a tool of exploitation. Similar to how Muslims feel disrespected when things are labeled "Islamic terrorism" when cats in ISIS generally have zero religion and even the ones that "believe" are not considered Muslims by actual Muslims.
I believe so yes. When I think of the term biblethumpers I think of a strongly negative term for religious zealots who twist and turn christianity (whether scripture supports it or not) backwards to try to force a set of beliefs that is best left in the middle ages. The people who try to force whatever their regressive version of the bible is into just about anything, specifically government. The ones whose heads are practically exploding at the mere thought of seeing a gay couple hold hands, much less marry or engage in sexual activity. And those who think (white) christians are the most discriminated against of any group.

It's pretty clear what the real goals of "prosperity gospel" and televangelism are but at the end of the day a large part of it is still because those people can twist a religion and take advantage of the power it holds over people. Regardless of how far separated that is from the average christian or the religious scripture itself. I believe the same goes for ISIS. ISIS' leaders twist a very large religion into some crusade for power and terror and use the indoctrination potential of the religious factor to grow their numbers and accomplish their goals.
Over here we generally use the term islamism and its adjective version to describe those types of very radical fundamentalist beliefs. Islamic simply refers to a regular muslim, at least to me.

I think it's important to call out the religious factor and how these groups use whatever religion is at their disposal to make it easier for them to indoctrinate their followers. I don't think ISIS would so easily attract this many followers were it not for the religious aspect. On the other hand it's also important to make the distinction between the regular religious groups and the extreme fundamentalist ones who abuse that religion in some form.

To be fair, where I live religion is essentially non-existant. Aside from a few muslims I really don't know any religious people of my age. To my knowledge I've never personally met anyone who considers the theory of creationism as anything other than nonsense.

It's a little late for that.

The people who need to use it won't and will ignore the fact they subscribed to fake news.

Definitely not going to believe some tool created by libbie Zuckerberg

I realized a while back that when this administration crumbles, actually since it already is crumbling, disintegrates...

That faux news and the right are just going to blame Hillary for this

"She should have won"
"She gave the people no choice"
"Emails, Benghazi"
"If she could have just gotten her base to get out and vote"

This will be the story they run with. That because of Hillary and the dems all of this happened

faux liberals already did this. the Bernie Bros with their "you rigged the primary and that's why Hillary lost and also why I had no choice but to vote for trump" and the over-analytic intellectuals with the "Hillary wasn't perfect in every way so I had no choice but to vote for the guy who would shake up the system."

Kinda doubt any legit or ardent liberals voted for tiny hands out of spite, the spite votes almost certainly went to Jill Stein/Johnson

both teenagers, virgins, and can't ignore the societal differences (shorter lives, you left and attained adulthood at younger ages, and I bet people hit puberty at earlier ages too).

as to the original comment, in old testament you were allowed to have premarital sex, but it meant you had to marry the girl (and I think pay her father).

As a Christian I can see how "we" could be "offended" by the label but I personally I'm not bothered. Likely because I also see "bible thumpers" as a separate entity within and dealing with Christianity.

Agree with this wholeheartedly. As a christian i dont see "bible thumpers" as true Christians. I reserve all judgement for God, for me its my job to make my faith look as appealing as possible to people who dont believe what i do. Only way to do that is to be kind and accepting to everyone, and let God do the rest. I find it incredible that people can claim to follow Jesus and NOT be liberal.

Probably the craziest footage anyone will see this week...

Quotes from some Trumpettes on reddit

I've said it on here before and I'll say it again. This is where Republicans are wrong. Their backwards ideology when it comes to technology is going to end up holding innovation back. Pissed me off to no end.

Seconded. It's indefensible ********. I did also sign a petition against repealing Net Neutrality.

I'm 100% against it.

This what yall voted for
