Cohen specifically noted in his guilty plea that the hush money payoffs was to influence the election. Cohen said Trump directed him to pay off the women in order to influence the election by quashing damaging stories. President Trump is on the record lying about knowing anything whatsoever about those payments but then later admitted he was in fact aware of the hush money.
According to court documents, unnamed executives at the Trump Organization then approved repaying Cohen $420k. Those same court documents allege that executives discussed misrepresenting the nature of the payments to conceal them by using "sham invoices."
More specifically an unnamed executive allegedly instructed an employee to describe the payments as "retainer payments."
Prosecutors allege in the court documents that there was no retainer agreement of that kind, nor any connection to legal services conducted by Cohen in 2017.
After repeated lying about the existence and knowledge of those payoff agreements, Trump and lawyer Giuliani later conceded that the payoffs did occur. Trump and Giuliani argued that Trump had no advance knowledge of the payoffs and later argued that Trump reimbursed Cohen through "retainer payments."
Trump did not divest from his company after getting elected and still retains his ownership stake in the Trump Org. He did place his assets in a trust but he can access that trust at any time without requiring disclosure. While he has removed himself from the daily operations of the Trump Organization and left that up to his sons, aside from that there's not really any additional firm separation between the president and the Trump Org.

An allegation that, if true, could possibly amount to an undisclosed campaign contribution. Contributions go unreported, often, in many campaigns. And, it is not necessarily criminal. It can also be charged as a civil offense with a fine as a penalty.
There is also a broader question of whether or not it would even be considered a campaign contribution, at all, as a matter of law.
Trump wasn't named in this indictment. Cohen has severe credibility issues. So, while certainly not a good look to have your former lawyer indicted, Cohen is easily impeached.

If true it is a campaign finance violation. Cohen already pleaded guilty to campaign finance violations specifically for his role in the above. The underlying allegation in which Cohen has implicated president Trump is already a crime Cohen has pleaded guilty to. If Trump directed Cohen to do so as he claims in his plea, then Trump directed him to commit a crime. There's no "if" there.

There is an "if" there. It is a bit difficult to explain. Cohen pleaded guilty to it as a crime. But, if Trump were to get indicted for it, his lawyers could argue that it does not meet the elements required to constitute a campaign finance violation because the "help" to the campaign is too attenuated from the "spirit of the statute." It would certainly make it to the Supreme Court. Personally, I think the current composition of SCOTUS (event without Kavanaugh) would agree with this view.

I used to ignore that kind of stuff, but it isn't good to let the ******** stand. When the things he says are false but remain unchallenged, it only helps those who benefit from misinformation. From time to time I'll take a break from his nonsense, but when he says something egregiously wrong, he has to be corrected.

A lawyer, who understands that plea deals are safer than trial, made a decision for himself and his family. It is not uncommon whatsoever. And, defense attorneys use deals with the prosecution to show that criminal informants have an incentive to lie all of the time.
Cohen pleaded guilty to other bank and tax fraud counts. It was probably the deal he could get. We will see how it plays out, but there is no reason to overstate what occurred.
