“I am the equivalent of someone who was gay in Mississippi in 1950,” a conservative professor is quoted as saying in “Passing on the Right,” a new book about right-wing faculty members by Jon A. Shields and Joshua M. Dunn Sr.

You really can't make something like this up.

I have another possible gem: a gay guy was telling me and my girl at a bar that gay folks are experiencing the exact same persecution/discrimination in the 2000s that black folks experienced during slavery through to the 1960s.

Bernie Supporters turned The Nevada Democratic Convention into a **** show.

Not surprising, the Caucasus and the Clark County Convention were **** shows because of them.

I swear, Nevada has a special concentration of petulant Sanders supporters. With all the positives I mentioned about Bernie saying in, this is some of the negative.

Some people are now convince that the only reason they're no getting their way is because the DNC illegally stealing it from Bernie.

Bringing up pledged delegates, or popular vote doesn't matter.

I don't know about the rest of the country, but Bernie bros in Nevada have become open about complaining about da "low information blacks" in the South.

Like I fear months ago, some people put their cards on the table that they are cool with white supremacy and social democracy coexisting happily.

Whatever you want to delude yaself about B. I don't gonna waste time on your *** today

WASHINGTON — Democratic Party leaders are upping the pressure on Bernie Sanders to drop his presidential campaign, alarmed that his continued presence is undermining efforts to beat the presumptive Republican nominee, Donald Trump, and again win the White House.

Bernie playing da suicide squeeze play for Trump :lol :hat

Look at this instigator :rollin

@realDonaldTrump: Bernie Sanders is being treated very badly by the Dems. The system is rigged against him. He should run as an independent! Run Bernie, run.

I agree with the jist of his message but man a Bernie 3rd party run would spell disaster for everyone given that Drumpf would probably sweep up the general I that instance.

I keep getting a creeping feeling that trump is going to win and the media will unknowingly help. Like that supposed NY times sunday hit piece. Focusing on stuff most people don't care about while he will pivot to the general and ride the populist and anti trade wave.

Not only do i think most people won't care. About this or him doing his own PR. I think it gives him a strong counter attack. He is bad with women? He gonna throw it all back on Bill.

Trump wll go on the clinton foundation hard.

Creeping feeling? Have you been living under a rock over the last year? Trump has gotten over 2 billion in free media advertisement since he announced in June and it has been widely stated by pundits that was huge boon for him and contributed to his unprecendeted rise.

This isn't the case for my friends in LA or NYC. Most of the Bernie Supporters, I know are POC, activists, artists and mostly WOMEN. I have friends in BLM who don't openly endorse Bernie Sanders but may vote for him.

Again, this is just from my perspective, I realize it doesn't reflect a most of the country AT ALL.

I don't think I've even met a Bernie Bros. Are there any in here?

Nag most of my friends active in the Bernie campaign are nothing like some of the people I have encountered in Nevada

Plus you have to take into account self selection. If you the type of dude that's gonna wake up early on a weekend and go to a county convention to cause trouble in hope of stealing one or two delegates from Hillary, then I know you're a special type of *******.

The media is downplaying the hell out of what happened lol. Then they complaim about trumo getting too much air time.

^ Boxer is so pathetic. Obviously she's on Clinton's side cause her daughter was married to crooked Hillary's brother. So glad she's finally retiring this year.

Anyone read her letter a few weeks ago? Beyond :{

Here is my heartfelt letter to Senator Sanders:

Dear Senator Sanders,

I have looked on with pride as you and Secretary Clinton have engaged in a contest of ideas in the Democratic Presidential Primary. That’s why I was so dismayed to hear you say that Hillary is "not qualified" to be President.

As an attorney who fought for civil rights and then for our kids at the Children’s Defense Fund, as a First Lady who fought for middle class families, as a Senator who fought for 9/11 first responders and all New Yorkers, and as a Secretary of State who fought for human rights and transformed U.S. diplomacy, Hillary Clinton has served the American people superbly and is qualified to be our next President and Commander-in-Chief.

I ask you to immediately retract your comments and return to the positive issues-oriented campaign that you promised.

Sincerely,

Barbara Boxer

"When you boo me you’re booing Bernie Sanders. Go ahead. Bernie is my friend. You want to boo Bernie, boo me. Go on, you’re booing Bernie. You’re booing Bernie,”

:lol

This all happened in 08. The only difference is hillary wasn't as "tough/forceful" after it was clearly over

But honestly he isn't going THAT hard. And lets stop pretending... bernie isn't a democrat.

I have experiences similar to yours and similar to Rusty's. My friends in LA and the Bay Area mostly support Bernie and they are pretty diverse in their demographics and intersectional in their approach to politics. On the very white Central Coast of California, especially among my students, I know more than a few people who would qualify as Bernie Bros.

When I am teaching my classes, I keep ideology out of it as best as I can. After class, I'll have students come up to me and we'll talk openly about what we think about the Economy and American Politics. Based on my conversations with these young men, they want social democracy, they want it now and any person or group who is in the way or perceived to be in the way is problematic.

I cut these guys some slack because if you are a college freshman who grew up in Orange County or some other suburb of Los Angeles, your white parents have probably been raging against Obama and the "Welfare State" since you were in elementary school. The fact that you acknowledge that the economy is rigged means that you are already willing to eschew the conservative of meritocracy. It takes a little while to completely unlearn the "common sense" BS that the suburbs teach us.

I do my best to guide them toward people like Ta-Nehisi and other writers who are Social Democrats that articulate the limits of an economics only approach to social justice. I implore them to figure out why black voters did not support Sanders in the primaries and why white working class people will support Trump in a general election. I tell them not to lose the passion and the energy that Bernie Sanders has created and to control that fire and defend the progressive gains that we have, play small ball and vote for Hillary and other Democrats and to find a more inclusive approach to Social Democracy.

We'll get there but it takes patience and empathy and I remember that when I was the same age as my students, I did not have much of either.
