dwalk31 's logic is not that hard to comprehend. If progressive policies came with free, recurrent money explicitly attached to them, he would blindly support them. The reason why he wants to see Democrats consider reparations is because it is another avenue for him to get paid that he can see.

Trying to explain to him that progressive policies would result in him having more money is like trying to explain to a law and order dude why investing in education results in less crime. Neither of them can see things on a systemic level.

The concept of community is alien to them. In the debate of nature vs nurture, the whole idea of nurture (as in, the village having an impact on the individual) is something that they reject 100%. That's why they can't understand why wearing the mask helps.

I don’t have any children yet but any time tuition comes up, I always wonder what college will cost by the time I do and they turn 18.
