***Official Political Discussion Thread***

Worrying about who might be the frontrunner for Democratic nomination in 2024 or 2028 election, is exactly the type of thing someone that doesn't have to deal the consequences of 2020 election doing wrong can do.

You guys need to not let black Matthew Yglesias get to y'all

it's vice presidential debate man.

no one cares about this other than political junkies.

so i think it's actually a perfect time to speculate on future dem front runners.

Your perspective on Kamala just amazes me man.

Like, you've watched Pence and Kamala both perform on debate stages, and you somehow still entered tonight genuinely under the impression that Kamala is a poor debator, and Pence is strong.

If we exclude people who subscribe to the cult of Trump, you're in such an extreme minority of people who legitimately don't think Kamala is sharp.

What did you see in the primaries that makes you think she's a great debater?

other than that first Biden ambush imo she wasn't great.

My black *** is someone that has to live in America for the next four years, before I am a political junkie

Kamala Harris is taking care of the job she has to do for this election.

I will worry about the next elections after the country survives this one.

cmon man don't you think you're being a tad bit precious here?

we're on an internet forum talking politics. it's a vice presidential debate that will have no impact on the election.

and joe biden is 77.

I don't really see how speculating on Kamala Harris prospects as a future presidential candidate is out of bounds.

if it is out of bounds please let me know the exact date that it's appropriate to criticize kamala harris.

im not saying anyone in here is saying that.

but she's the vice presidential nominee, she's always had the support of the big democratic doners.

clearly people (not anyone on NT) but clearly some people think she's really good.

To be real, she’s more qualified than really anybody that was in the field :lol. We can be critical and say she can for sure be better, and has things to answer for, that she’s dodgy about. But to sit and pretend like she’s not qualified, not sharp etc...when we’re looking at the damn field is wild.

I posted earlier, how she disappointed me with her response around the systemic racism- fly time. But she’s clearly on an entire different level of “sharpness” than pretty much all these fools. She alone, was more substantive and sharper than the 3 white men who’ve “debated”.

Are we looking for another once in a lifetime dem 2024/2028 front runner? We most likely haven’t even seen it yet.

I don’t think political junkies are speculating on future dem front runners when there is controversial vacant Supreme Court seat, tight races that could flip the Senate and a looming constitutional crisis if the President rejects the results of the election.

The **** going down in the next 30 days will affect a generation. Cant worry about the next presidential election or future of the party right now.

Did I say anything was out of bounds? My first post was telling people not to get worked up on your post because you in Canada would not have the same perspective on what is a pressing topic now, because you have no skin in the game. I didn't say **** to you about the timing of your take. I warned people not to get worked up over your post.

You then quoted me and told me you think it is the perfect time because we are political junkies and it is the VP debate. Then I told you how I see things, my perspective. And I said I will worry about what is next for the party after the election.

So please, point out to me where I told you your take was out of bounds, what your shouldn't make it. At best I told you I am not gonna concern myself with it now, for obvious reasons.

Or are you once again asking me to answer for **** other people said?

1. uh I didn't say she wasn't qualified.

2. Im not talking about the specific substance of the answers I obviously disagree with literally everything that Mike Pence says.

But im just tryna think about this through the lens of a none political person.

Mike Pence was better gaslighting and hiding the ball, and Kamala didn't really cut through it in a sharp and super clear way. it's not some crazy contrarian take.

ah I see what you mean. my bad.

I understand how some people may not like Biden for various reasons and policies they may disagree with, both past and present. But to say the Democratic Party is in trouble because they won't have many great options in 2024 is wild. The Republican Party isn't in a great place in terms of eligible candidates either.

Trump with ZERO political experience and basically no real discernible plans ran for president and beat out lifelong politicians. Think that says enough about how many great options they have/had.

Kamala really displayed remarkable restraint when dealing with Pence and his bs
She really could've gone in on his *** but mostly stuck to serving him dangerous looks
Better than me, after the first time he interrupted I would've gone
"I know you're not used to respecting any woman you don't call 'Mother' but you will respect me"
Would've then thanked Mother for chaperoning him so he could attend the event
Would've wished his relationship with the truth was as strong as his relationship with Mother
I'd have had jooooooooookes
