while I don't disagree with anything you said, I wonder if that 20% of Americans is even less than past eras? that % doesn't surprise me all too much considering this country has always been enamored with the military and guns. this is strictly conjecture but I'm willing to bet that most of trump's base would feel comfortable with this happening.

I just find it hard to believe that trump would be able to actually steal this election or set up a dictatorship...These are the same guys that held a press conference at four seasons landscaping...
Plus I think there is way too much at stake for that to actually happen. I feel like this is just another con he's doing to get his followers riled up and start his news network and take their money.

Only a matter of time before the head of CISA, Chris Krebs, gets fired now. CISA's Assistant Director handed in his resignation at the request of the WH earlier today. It looks like they decided to use their remaining time in office to publicly dismiss all of Trump's election/voter fraud claims, which obviously wasn't well received at the WH.

Here's the thing: Applebaum draws comparisons between here (right now) and the hard right in Poland (happening now too).
The thing is about all dictatorships is that you don't need to have a majority of the people by your side to take over a country; you only need a band of enablers in all branches of government and a sizeable, visible, and willing minority. Unlike other eras, where only the legislative body was on some BS, we now have an executive (president + DOJ) and a judicial bench who are explicitly willing to usurp power.
On top of all of this, nobody on the Republican side has called Trump out for cleaning up the Pentagon and putting in place loyalists. That's ominous.

I feel like anybody who doesn´t see something is cooking might be willfully blind on this.
there is zero legitmate reason to replace the Secretary of Defense for 2.5 months.
it´s not even about guy any more...question is how deep are his followers willing to dive into their delusions?
