It wasn't about the 1 inch, it was a CHESS MATCH between Pete and Bill.  It was not a secret that Bill was thinking about letting Seattle score.  IMHO time was already out and New England wasn't gonna have time any way, but Pete wanted to go 4 downs on that.  He was that confident that Lynch could score on 2 more tries.  Bill didn't give no damns and trusted his defense and went ALL IN and didn't flinch.  Pete cratered.

What's more brilliant is New England drawing the offsides to get the ball out of the endzone.  Seattle REALLY had a chance, the encroachment clinched it, not the INT.

Yes Seattle blew it, but Brady wasn't going to take a KNEE at the END ZONE.  The safety scenario would've given LIFE to SEATTLE.  Weirder things have happened.
