It only saves the luxury tax. The Lakers still have to pay MWP's full salary for the season because he was't picked up on waivers.

wonder how the NY fans will react to his antics and badly timed shots.
i loved metta and what he helped accomplish on the lakers.
but will not miss those untimely 3s, and him rumbling and tumbling and barely clearing the rim on layups....or those "ball-n shoes"
