Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

I loved Skyfall.. I've been watching Casino Royale a lot because BBC America showed it like 5 times last week.

I'm down for it.

^^

and the fact that they used a real Indian kid to play Mowgli. Glad they didn't try to whitewash this one

Watched the creed trailer and clicked on this trailer after.. Doesn't look too bad

That genre is so exhausted right now (thg, diverginsurgpurecrap, maze runner). The aliens part is a new twist though.

chloe moretz is a talented actor but she (or her agent) is terrible at picking movies

only good movie shes been in was the first kickass

Definitely going to see The Jungle Book movie. I'd enjoy a live action Aladdin and maybe even Lion King.....

Maybe even Hercules, but that might be a little too dark and creepy for Disney pull off

Overall, sure but she's still growing up through her teenage years. Not gonna be A LOT of great material for her to just feast on.

She has teen romance stuff, scary movies, and what else really? That's what actresses her age get offered, even the more talented/popular ones. The best sci-fi and action stuff probably won't feature her as the lead or supporting actress on the regular. Only other thing I think she'd be cool in is those slice of life, coming of age HS movies.

Keep in mind she broke in to this and made a name for herself as a badass. Look at that 5th Wave trailer, while sci-fi it's basically banking on the fact that she's mostly known to be a badass (not the worst type casting).

I liked The Equalizer which she featured in a small supporting role. She's 18 now so we'll see where her career goes and if it blossoms. I'd love to see her star in a Wes Anderson movie though.

i guess there are hardly any good roles for girls in movies.

seems like she opts to be the lead in average movies rather than a supporting character in a big movie

i mean there's that one insidious kid who had key roles in two of the most successful movies ever (IM3

and Jurassic World) so it is possible

wasn't she up for the role on jean grey? I can see her being a young gwen stacy

Equalizer was okay, poor man's john wick. any half decent actor could have played her role in the movie and it would not have made a difference

No way man.

Small role but, the movie would have felt way different without her.

She was very endearing as a prost, and her chemistry with Denzel was nice.

Completely agree.. Thought they had a real opportunity with the Carrie remake, go more towards what was in the book and not try to update the de Palma movie

And that movie with Johnny depp was horrible

Kickass 2 really needed Vaughn back

Definitely gonna disagree here and it has nothing to do with Chloe :lol The Equalizer isn't a poor man's John Wick especially when I'm pretty sure The Equalizer came out first. While movies like that are all in the same genre - older actor turns action hero, firmly established by Liam Neeson - after watching it again The Equalizer feels more like a poor man's Jack Reacher as far as how the fight scenes go. Plot wise I can kinda see how it was like Wick but there's a string of other movies with pretty straight forward plots like that, like Neeson's Brooklyn flick where Ed Harris is trying to kill him. They're not all fast paced and good like Wick. Wick is more like Taken on speed. Plus we've already seen Denzel do better as a fighter/killer (even with stunt doubles) in Safe House and The Book Of Eli. Far more cool and menacing there. Equalizer was a bit of a different approach.

any half decent actor could have played her role in the movie and it would not have made a difference
I liked her and to me there's no denying the sort of innocence her face and acting brings to roles like that. Reminds me of Jodie Foster as a child pro in Taxi Driver a bit.

Watch the movie Let Me In. It's the remake of Let the Right One In. She's very good in that

I think we're used to be being around for so long, that we forget Chloe Moretz is only 18.. she has plenty of time to get those better roles. She isn't beating out the most established twenty something actresses for those same roles just yet.

Only the greatest Anime ever made! Were you living under a rock?! *In a super nerdy voice*

but really it is top 10 anime movies ever. It's about in the future where WW3 happened and Tokyo is rebuilt to Neo-Tokyo. Main dude (forgot name) is in one of many bike gangs. Government want to control all the psychics to house them and not start another war. (A psychic blew up Tokyo i the first place causing the war). Main dude comes to find he has psychic powers and saves Akira, the psychic that blew everything up. When i mean psychic or destroy things think of it like Jean Grey in X3 when she became Phoenix and destruction happened type of thing (if your powerful enough)

Movie played a huge role in culture for the 80s. Kanye entire video for Stronger is to pay homage to it.

The style and shots of him on the medical bed just like the scene below

Movie wise it is really good. I believe it was the first rated R anime in the US and I think first rated R anime movie with world wide success. It's a sci-fi movie that has the enemy as ourselves being humans then hunted down once were seen as a threat (psychic powers). It shows the future as dsytopian and grim as hell. Pioneer really, another reason why Blade Runner is such a cult and brilliant movie. One of the first movies to show a future not as clean or purely white and perfect with robot slaves and world peace and such.

If Nolan can do it I'll give him props.

@M4rioL  Thanks for the info/explanation, fam.

All the Japanese insignia in Kanye's video makes sense now. The scene you linked to has me intrigued. I'll try and check the film out this weekend.
