Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

I have a tough choice tomorrow.
All the money in the world
I, tonya
Shape of water
Molly’s game.

Man

Some movies I watched today

Against the Wall 6.8/8

Real good prison flick, Alcatraz was corrupt and wild. Feel like they could go in depth with a tv show. Samuel L., MacLachlan, Williams III, and Harris were all great.

True Colors 5.7/8

Cusack was really good in this. Spades is a fab and was good but played a character I've seen before. Even for a political drama still felt real 90s.

Extraction 4/8

Reminded me a lot of Soderbergh's Haywire and not just cuz of Gina. It has this tone deafness similarity that was unique in Haywire due to the style but fell flat here. Kellan Lutz has the look of the next big movie star but is pretty boring. The boy Willis is steady cashing checks on a Nic Cage level but its so brazen that it can't be compared to Samuel L.'s prolificness. He's barely in this and easily coasts. Imagine if A Good Day to Die Hard had less McClane in it and was worse.

Mauraders 5.8/8

This was entertaining. The story had a message but the plot bogged it down. The bank robbery scenes made up for it a bit. I'm a fan of Meloni but this movie sorely missed a starring actor. Willis is like the bad guy and isn't in it a lot. Meloni does his best but hard when his support is the guy from Entourage, Bautista, and this one other guy who you see in a lot of stuff but don't know his name.

How do you watch three movies in one day using movie pass?

Bang out 2.

I'm thinking of holding off on the Shape of Water altogether.

Don't know why but its like I, Tonya hasn't officially released.

Once you get inside the theater, never leave.

There's also this check-in trick I came across:

Check-in for one movie, then purchase a ticket with the card for another movie, watch the movie, the check-in grace period will pass, when you get out you'll be able to check-in to another movie.

I don't know how it is for where you watch movies but once you get your ticket checked you then walk in w/e room the movie showing.

Is there another check for tickets at the door?

Hell what's stopping you from walking into another viewing? :nerd:

Oh damn. NYCers don't give a flying ****.

Last Friday while waiting to see Phantom Thread, I just waltzed in to catch some of The Last Jedi right next to the employees who were waiting for the movie to finish.

:rofl:Gonna have to try that at my theatre next time or take the path train to the city lol

They starting to make the seats around the LA area all reserved. Which is fine. You just have to wait until everyone sits down and then wait to see what seat is open

Exactly.

Main thing I do is try to avoid sold out viewings and reserved seating though.

While waiting for a reserved theater to be filled works it can suck if the only seats left are in the damn front row.

The time of viewings matter as well. If you free during the week on a work/school day you'll have no problems.

Thing is sometimes for popular movies the ticket office and kiosk aren't synched so they may overbook a viewing. I've seen ppl who've laid for tickets walk in to packed theaters, and they either go get a refund or just wait for a later viewing. Never seen a bunch of movies employees walk in and ask for the tickets stubs to make sure they ain't sneakes in.

the spot I go to ushers will actually come in during the movie and check the seating plan and will kick out anyone that is in seats that we're unsold.

I never understood the Love for GOTG.
I've tried several times and never have I ever been able to finish but GOTG2 is legit.

Was there a Howard the Duck cameo or just a striking resemblance?

It was a cameo.

Damn, ruthless

Are yall in smaller urban populations?

I never seen that kind of hassle in a city.

they don't check **** in hawaii. you can camp out all day if you want.

i haven't seen many of the probable oscar contenders this year. i'll be working my way though the screeners over the next week or so but my pick from the movies i've watched is easily blade runner 2049. acting was pretty good but the visuals, mood, dialogue, and music was fantastic. i loved the pace. i loved how the story unfolded. completely enjoyable for me.

I didn't get to The Killing of a Sacred Deer last night as planned... some house games of FIFA got pretty intense...
Anyway, here's my Top 10 of 2017 and some honorable mentions:
Logan
Baby Driver
Wind River
Girls Trip
The Shape of Water
Coco
Get Out
Molly's Game
Dunkirk
The Big Sick

Last Flag Flying
Brawl in Cellblock 99
Brigsby Bear
Good Time
John Wick: Chapter 2

Hope everyone has a dope year. See you at the movies!

I initially only wanted to see All the Money in the World for Spacey. Still kinda want to see that version. Since he was replaced for Plummer I wasn't sure about it.

Don't boycott him but I do not care for Mark Whalberg at all. Watched for Michelle Williams.

Plummer looks more like Rockfeller than Getty but he was real good.

Williams is great in this. A fierce performance. As of lately I feel her other performances while good were tame. She was too good in this.

This was a good Ridley movie. Wish he wasnt so hit or miss.

All the Money in the World 6.2/8. Still want to see the Spacey version/scenes.

Looking forward more to the FX series Trust about the same kidnapping where Donald Sutherland plays Getty.

Man somebody has to let me know how good The Post is. Went to another theater and it is packed AGAIN. Peeked in another as it finished and you can clearly hear the audience applauding it.

I can not believe this. I went to the theater with a 2nd level, got there early for The Post and yet it still became packed.

What is the deal with this movie? Only 84% on RT with a 64% audience score.

Meryl and Tom still got the juice like that?

Never doubt the dusty whites

Especially during Oscar bait season

The Post 6.2/8

It was a real good and another as expected Spielberg that nails what it set out to do.

Hanks was great. Streep was good. The character is a real person but I wish she wasn't just playing a child of the 30s growing up in a man vs world so she herself is a bit reluctant to be a role model and pioneer.

The whole damn cast was a murder's row of talent; Paulson, Odenkirk, Cross, Stuhlbarg, fat Matt Damon/Todd, ****, Brie, Rhys.

With that said its not better than Spotlight. Pentagon papers had some teeth to it but I really did come in thinking the movie was covering Watergate but maybe that was on me.

Unfortunately meeting up with a chick curtailed me from waiting to see Ladybird given my schedule got messed up with how packed the first viewing of The Post was.

EXACTLY! Aint wanna say it before but I was surrounded by a sea of white ppl.

I noticed it last week when I poked my head in for the movie. Then 2 times today. I should've went and saw that first before the Getty movie. I ain't see this turn out for Call Me By Your Name or Phantom Thread.

Not counting premiere week but The Last Jedi audience was nowhere as big when I seen it the first time or when I caught an hr of it today

I can only hope I have that problem when I go see Black Panther next month.
