I listen to sports talk radio endlessly in my car, I would be interested in reading this one.  Does he bring up many of the different hosts in the country?  Or does he mainly focus on the few known national guys like Rome or the ESPN guys?

He talks about people from all over...LA, Vegas, New York, Philly, Pittsburgh, Boston...it's a true history...really good stuff, cheap too, you can find it online for like $9.00

I just finished watching "Unknown" with Liam Neeson, January Jones and Diane Kruger.

While I originally thought it would be just like "Taken" it was a bit different but there were plenty of similarities.

The film is pretty sloppy, doesn't tie things together well and drags a bit. Neeson plays the exact same role, speaks the same and wears the same clothes.

The twist in the film is pretty good and unpredictable but that's probably the only thing it had going for it.

I didn't expect greatness, but it was rather underwhelming.

My full review is here for those that wish to read -http://bit.ly/fy7eYJ

I really hope Gatsby and BNW are not screwed up and follow the books, two of my all time favorites that I read almost every year....

and Devil in the White City was great as well, not a classic like the above two, but I hold my breath.  I get so frustrated by poor adaptations of great books, and then kids that don't read think that is how the story went or never pick up the book

I agree with the Will Smith talk in here, was never a huge fan, even when he was 'blowing up'.  But Seven and Happy were both solid films, but like CP (I think) said, was it more script than him (especially 7 lbs)?

No, don't.  Log off, sit in a dark room by yourself for a little while, think about your life and where it's headed.  Then come back and apologize for this nonsense.

What the @#$% are you talkin about Pro?  You delusional or somethin?  How on Earth is Leo overrated on NT or anywhere?

Kev is right, Pursuit would be a solid movie regardless of Will, and really considering it was his real son he was working with, it was easy for him to be in the moment so to speak of having your own child sleep in a bathroom somewhere.  ANY parent knows the sheer anger and pain that would cause inside you.  So I can see the angle, but regardless, he still did do well, and Ali was decent, and I haven't seen 7 pounds yet, so I can't speak there.  Problem with Will is he just won't do a different role.  He needs to be a bad guy, or a killer, or a dentist that can't beat anybody up, something different.  That hurts his overall range imo.  I think him doing 6 Degrees of Seperation early in his life made him point to that role and say "see, I got talent" and then he never dipped back into it again.  He SHOULD be fighting for roles that Jamie Foxx always seems to get, Foxx has done pure comedy, action, drama, sports, a wide variety of stuff, all from a guy that came from In Living Color wearin a wig and a dress.

But, I mean, kid gets 20 mil a picture to "save the world" and his movies always make money, so *shrugs*

In his defense, if you polled the General forum, you'd be shocked at how many say he's the best actor of all-time and everyone else is awful in comparison
laugh.gif

A lot of people I've noticed feel very strong about Leo, but haven't seen enough of other actors filmography's to make such grand statements. It's a lot of people who haven't seen more than 5 movies made before 1994 who speak so passionately about him... not pointing fingers at anyone in particular, just a general consensus.

Hmmmm.......did not know that about General.

Ya know, there's no reason we couldn't put together a short list of the "elites" these days.  Top 5, top 10 whatever.  Maybe come up with some sort of consensus.

Just a random list off the top of my head, Leo, Hanks, Denzel, DeNiro, Crowe, Pacino, Bale, Ford, Tommy Lee Jones, Morgan Freeman, Penn the first names I think of real fast.  I'm sure there are more, and some of those probably go before some of these names.  Benicio I just thought of, Bardem may........oh @#$% how the hell I forget Daniel Day Lewis?
laugh.gif
This might be harder then I thought.

We should, we should rank dudes based on talent, resume, maybe even box office just for flavor, hits, misses, etc etc.  If anyone can think of anything else.

If we want to make this sports related, and themed, we could compile the list like the NFL combine, sort of draft status it.

so I ended up watching the last 30 minutes of twins while the knicks were getting blown out. funnier than I remember, but i was pretty drunk at the time.

I can't imagine that movie getting made right now. i feel like every comedy is just about a senior in high school trying to have sex

This is just a really weird reasoning.

So any number of actors can stand in for Leo in Titanic and the movie can carry the same impact because of the story?

In that example? Probably. Leo was good in Titanic, but I don't think he's the only actor who could have played Jack.

There are numerous examples of an actor doing well in a role because of the script, direction, etc. I could have imagined Denzel doing just as good, if not a better job in Pursuit of Happyness, same with Jamie Foxx. It's not knocking Smith's performance at all, but that role was set up on a tee for him... if he didn't deliver an emotional and heart wrenching performance, he would have been a huge disappointment.

You can play that game with a lot of good/great roles, though. So it's not a real criticism of Will, just something to notice.

I think you bring up a good point, however, Leo has shown he can do a wide range of work.  Whereas Smith has not.  If Will had done a few more roles outside of playing himself, maybe he would get a little more credit for 7 lbs, and Pursuit.

There's still time I think for Will to do a few roles that nobody expects.

Didn't he have like 5 years in a row of July 4 type movies? ID4, MIB, Wild Wild West, and then a couple others.

I mean, he was makin money that's for sure, he just wasn't real picky with his roles is all.

Denzel is the most overrated actor on here. Sure, dude is talented, but he plays the same 3 roles.

And CP, smh at you for omitting Johnny Depp and Ed Norton.
