However you want to categorize them man.  I broke mine down into 3 seperate.  Current guys that make movies these days, the older gen, and then the action type stars, summer movie guys, not a lotta awards for them though etc etc.

Just watched Philadelphia for the first time, and Tom Hanks is freaking FANTASTIC...

And speaking of movies that make me entirely lose focus on what I'm doing if I scroll past them on TV... Catch Me If You Can... I can never NOT watch that movie.

His body of work is SOLID, there is no debating that.  Everything he touches is 100 mil, and he has a wide variety of movies.  Hell, I probably have 20 of his alone in my collection.

But the original question I asked was a list of top 10 actors, would you personally put him in that list?  Who would you put him above?

Nah, I wouldn't list him in the top actors. Top ten movie stars maybe.

My only point is that he is a better actor than Will Smith - more range and willing to take more risks - even though they are both lumped into the big-budget star category.

Tom Cruise is washed up now, though, so Will Smith > him.
Then again, I really hate scientology so yeah

And I forgot all about Catch You If I Can. I love flicks about compulsive liars, schemers, and smooth talking sons of $%++*#*.

tom cruise used to be legitimate

Rainman was fantastic. yes dustin stole the show but cruise was good in it.
Eyes wide shut was a strange movie. My least favorite kubrick movie but it was still good. The last line was perfect
Thought he was hilarious and did a good job in that movie with ben stiller and robert downey jr. i can't remember what it was called.
have born on the 4th of july on my computer just haven't sat down and watched it. pretty sure that's what his best role is.
war of the worlds was good
He was great in risky business and Jerry Mcguwire

btw Dustin Hoffman routinely gets left off of the best actor lists. He is in my top 10. His resume is insane

got 40 minutes left but wow. this movie is unbelievable. Don't know where to rank it in war movies. If you ever wondered about Tom cruise's acting ability, watch this movie.

kool you are right about Ron Korvic

good list prime. i liked I heart huckabees too. It made me feel like a hipster watching it and was kind of corny but for some reason i really liked that movie.

not gonna lie I fell asleep watching all the president's men. maybe I just wasn't in the mood, I dunno. sleepers is an awesome movie. The graduate is one of my favorite movies ever

Plus the soundtrack is amazing. (Forest hills, Queens represent!!!!)

I named Outbreak because of the 3 other Oscar types in the movie with him. 4 if you count Donald Sutherland. I didn't say it was his best film man.
