Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Zendaya > JLaw

^100

Jlaw hands down the most overrated actress of all time. And it’s well known that she did “favors” to get most of the major roles she got early in her career.

Which explains the strong Correlation between Weinstein indictment, and the tanking of her career. And her standing up for him and bashing accusers :smh:disgusting. Both utter pieces of trash.

Zendaya is a goddess and a saint. Has more talent in her left pinky than jlaw has in her entire plastic surgery botoxed body.

I think I’ve mentioned before that my son watched Zendaya’s Disney Channel show. Seemed like typical Disney show kid to me at the time; very photogenic, with some charm, but not a particularly good actress. I give her a lot of credit for really developing her craft and taking on challenging roles.

Not even fair to judge acting from Disney channel shows as being hammy is a part of it.

Just began Euphoria last night. Was not expecting all the dong, but it seems like it's gonna be really good. Like a more potent KIDS for the present generation.

I get that Showtime is a direct rival, but there is absolutely no way that should have gotten released without the name Showtime in there somehow. 'Winning Time' just comes off as a goofy sidestep to me.

Anyone else?

I believe the show is based on a book by the same name.

*Edit. Actually, I was wrong. The book has “Showtime” in the title. So probably is some kind to trademark issue that stopped them from using it for the show.

This puts me in mind of something that kind of freaked me out recently. During the 1980s, LA’s “oldies” station played music from the 50s and it seemed ancient to me at the time.

That station still exists today with the same call letters and everything. I happened to tune into that station the other day after not having listened to it for years. They were playing 80s and 90s music. I initially thought, “oh, it’s not an oldies station anymore.” Then it occurred to me that the 80s are longer ago relative to now than the 50s were in the 80s.

I just stared into space for a while after reaching that realization.

Just got done w/ The Unforgivable.

One of my favorite emotionally compelling movies ever. What a gripping story, man.

Look, I've said before that I've always found Sandra Bullock so annoying. I just want to set that as the backdrop when I say that she was phenomenal right here. Far and away my favorite movie of hers. I actually liked Birdbox. Ms. Congeniality was fun. I know Speed was her breakout performance that put her in the conversation of America's Sweetheart for a while. I just never liked her.

But her performance in this... I seriously just literally got done with it, and I'm still processing.

Her performance set to this incredible story and really simple camera work...

There were a couple scenes where my heart was pounding sooo fast, man.

I don't know that I've ever given a perfect score before. I know there's been movies where I thought about it and then intentionally became hypercritical and maybe gave like a 7.75 or 7.5 or something. I hate when baseball voters vote and there's always 1 that plays contrarian so nothing is ever unanimous. It's stupid. I seriously can't think of any criticisms for this movie.

8/8

If you told me 10 years ago that I would give a Sandra Bullock movie an 8/8, I would tell you that either she's got a bit part in this excellent movie, or for this movie, she moved away from the quirky, clumsy, awkward, cute role she's always typecast in.

Yes, yes she does.

The final 3rd is everything you want in a movie. The very final scene, I mean literally the final shot before end credits, is EVERYTHING you want in a movie.

The book that inspired the Lakers mini-series is really, really great...I would suggest it to any and all basketball fans.

Given that we are getting a mini-series with excellent source material (a la The People v. OJ), I have high-hopes. However, that Adam McKay styling doesn't always work for me. I liked The Big Short; Don't Look Up and Vice...meh

Didn’t know The Unforgivable was like that, alright.

And the moment Josh Richards and Addison Rae and all those people came up around the beginning of the pandemic made me realize I was no longer viewed as young/situated very much in my late 20s (viewed as definitively an adult by the people around that early 20s TikTok age). The radio station realization seems similar.

I’ve been on this site since I was 13 shooting blanks, now I’m semi-washed washed.
