Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Big shout-out to the old Boardwalk threads and tv threads in here in general and elsewhere. I miss immediately posting comments and reviews about all the shows throughout the years. Big shout-out to the community thread. Even waiting for the AV Club review to get posted and commentating on there. Those were the days. RIP AV Club as it was

Big shout-out to this thread and all the regulars. My work schedule has dominated my movie watching time. If I get a few hours after work it's either watch a movie and dk nothing else. Or catch some of a game, play PS, browse the internet cause I can't all day work work, etc. I'm on the cusp of the big promotion I've been waiting for and I'll be sure to share the good news

I'm gonna work my way through the best of 2021 soon.

The Unforgivable was an impressive turnout by Bullock.
She really has come a long way from the character she was pigeonholed as in most of her roles.
She’s extremely Sexy as a Mad Desolate.
Film was fire.
It’s no ARRIVAL, but fire.
Rewatch factor is going to be completely non-existent.

I had this discussion amongst friends…do y’all think Get Out is the latest truly “classic” movie? I do.

IMO, it was an example of critical acclaim meeting commercial popularity/success. Other movies deemed “classic” nowadays (which is used too lightly, regardless) tend to have one or the other.

in for a draft if we end up having one and there's space

I would be down to run it/help. I just need to know the logistics and what themes have already been done…I haven’t contributed to the thread as long as others have

Off the top of my head Parasite and Into the Spider-Verse came after Get Out and are on the same level.

Sounds like your Arrival is my Unforgivable. 😂🤙 'Decent, no desire to rewatch' is exactly how I feel about Arrival.

“No, no listen. You gotta give me some time. I did a test run on this thing and it took me twenty minutes. I think I can push it to eighteen, but you gotta give me at least fifteen minutes. Just give me fifteen minutes.”

“No promises.”

I don’t think there’s really even a debate. It’s absolutely a classic for the reasons you stated. And it belongs to be in the discussion as one of the greatest horrors, or even films of all time.

It holds up against other critically acclaimed horrors like Rosemarys Baby, The Shining, The Exorcist, Psycho, etc.

Do you guys ever find yourself not watching a doc solely because you remember it happening in real time before your eyes?

"I lived thru it so why would I bother?". just saw an trailer for the gamespot stock debacle

Usually the docs with the quick turnaround mean it's just a documentary where the filmmaker will be telling the story in a slanted way to try and get you to think what they want you to think instead of just telling the story. I hate documentaries where the person making it decided to make themselves a focal point of the documentary.
