Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

The REPORT
Man, I can’t see how making this type of film is, “safe”.
This had to have ruffled some feathers.
More than a few.
I don’t revel in Policies and Politics, I tend to steer clear of most of those conversations on every level, for many reasons. Those who do revel in Policies and Politics specifically at a higher level where Service is given or Offices/Positions are held, for them to enact or allow this type of torture or “enhanced interrogation” which seems to supersede any Law or any statute or Rule of Engagement, they’d almost have to be capable or would, just kill the Story tellers.
Nothing would make me think they wouldn’t just knock off Actors/Directors and Writers for putting this information on the Big Screen. Grace and Peace to Scott Burns for having the gall, for standing impudent against those the Story is about. Must be some Freedom and/or Power In being able to take this stance on such a level as, a FILM.

Wife stayed home instead of working today so we finished The Prestige. I think y’all talked it up too high for me. It also didn’t help that due to this thread, I knew there was something I had to pay attention to. I really did enjoy it but I think thus far on my Nolan rewatch list I have:

1. Memento
2. The Prestige
3. Batman Begins
4. Insomnia

On to The Dark Knight

Insomnia is damn good too. I forget about that one sometimes.
Wasn't aware of it. LOVE this thread.

IS THAT PACINO AND ROBIN?! 😳😳🔥🔥

Yeah. Insomnia was the movie I kicked the month off with. It was my first time watching and I knew going in it was considered his weakest movie but that isn’t that bad when you consider his filmography. It gave me some Mare of Easttown vibes. Robin Williams was great in it

The Report

Scott Burns, I’ll continue plowing through his catalogue-he has my attention by name now.

It was a film that was full of information.
From a FILM or ART eyes view it was well done and quite, entertaining.
There’s a lot to unpack here leaving me with way more thoughts than I’m comfortable putting into words. I continue to struggle with the notion that there is or should/shouldn’t be precedence when it comes to, WAR. I mean the idea of PEACETIME, does that even exist, ever.
WAR itself, it seems it’s never over, that it’s everlasting from one generation to the next always for and never not needed for new reasons or old.

The film ends with a quote on the screen.

“Should any American soldier be so base and infamous as to injure any [prisoner]….I do most earnestly enjoin you to bring him to such severe and exemplary punishment as the enormity of the crime may require…for by such conduct they bring shame, disgrace and ruin to themselves and their country”
-George Washington

Seems a pretty clever way to tie it all together, and end the Film- it put me at ease A BIT, if nothing else.

This is was said by our 1st President. That’s a long time ago. Basically it’s been known and observed for some time now. Yet here we are.

Politics, **** can keep you up at night and help you rest easy in the same breath. Scary stuff.

I think I’ll watch ZERO DARK THIRTY.

I really planned on watching PU-239 next.

Rhada Mitchell, feel like seeing her a bit after seeing her last night in Man On Fire as I fell asleep. Scott Burns as well, but- it can wait.

Heading to see Knock at the Door tonight

Hope it’s good

pretty good. i was mostly engaged and entertained throughout. thought bautista was really good in this

i went in expecting a pretty significant twist at the end obviously. was a bit disappointed there with no twist. unless that's the twist? :lol

Speaking of good jokes, I’m glad they took the more playful route in Gremlins 2. I prefer it over the “dark” tone of the original.

Cider House Rules; Lord Have Mercy. What a film. I didn't see that until about 10years after it released and buddy, it's something else.
The Feels.

Same feelings when I watch The Reader or Atonement.
