Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Pulp Fiction is the #1 MUST SEE movie of all-time for me. Until you've seen that movie, please refrain from discussion in this thread. You know not of what you speak.

Does. Not. Compute.

On Battle: LA... Man I was so excited about that damn movie... Then the reviews were such an epic disaster... I've heard it was good, I've heard it was terrible. Spring Break = I may see it in the morning by myself.

I'm so skeptical now though.

New Super 8 trailer...

Zach Snyder's style is filthy... All of his films look so sick.

Too bad none of them are very good.

ALL Quentin movies are MUST SEE in my book.  ALL of them.

Even True Romance, and it wasn't even his direction, just written by him.  True Romance, another GREAT GREAT GREAT casted movie.  Slater, Patricia Arqutte, Hopper, Kilmer, Oldman, Pitt, Walken, Samuel L, Rappaport, Gandolfini, Sizemore, Chris Penn, Balki, Michael Beach,

Like a who's who of Hollywood.  And as far as scenes go, the Hopper/Walken scene for 10 minutes was

Dirk, leap of faith with me here, see it.  If I'm wrong, you can @#$%^ me out, but I'm tellin ya, this is WAY beyond ID4.  And I have held on to ID4 being the best we've had since it came out.

Dawn of the Dead is good... Forgot that was his...

But 300? Meeeeeh. It's definitely worth seeing once, but I'll probably never watch that movie again.

And this is exactly why I haven't seen so many of the must-see movies I listed (and obviously others I didn't list):
CP1708:
300 and Pulp are musts.
So 300 is a must see.
Nowitness41Dirk:

So 300 is 'Enh.'

laugh.gif

The movies I listed among my favorites, I love them; I could watch them over and over and over again. I don't really watch movies just to waste a couple hours, cuz I seldom have a couple hours to just... waste.
laugh.gif

I'll see Pupl Fiction when I see a reason, other than 'You just HAVE to, ska!!'
laugh.gif

So yeah, eventually.

Probably.

Most likely.

I think.

Maybe not.

No, I will.

Someday.

It might be the best movie of all-time.

Tarantino, Samuel L., Bruce Willis, Travolta, Uma... It's about hitmen, the mob... It's violent. It's dark. It's funny. It's Quentin Tarantino.

Let's try this, because I really want to understand how this works... Tell me why Pulp Fiction doesn't appeal to you.

300 is cool but not in the same ball park as pulp.

it's one of the best movies ever made.

Tread lightly with the whole Pulp Fiction stuff, friend of mine gonna see this in a lil bit and he either gonna log off and never come back, or get hisself banned, could go either way.

I admit, I use "must see" too much.  That's a habit, I think everything that is visually well done is a "must"  However, 300 dudes, vs like 3 million dudes, and the 300 dudes give a run for the money.  And with Zack's crazy eye for imagery, trust me, it's worth your 2 hours.  I personally, can re-watch it all the time, and I ALMOST felt like putting it above Gladiator, but I sat down and watch Crowe one more time, soul searched, and then talked my self back to reality.  300 is a solid, solid flick.  I consider it must watch, at least the one time.  Then you can be the judge.

BTW, Knowing, was Ehhhhhhhhhhhh.  Ok, nothing special, Cage is held back sorta, predictable, I watched it once and haven't thought about it since.

Ska, have you ever seen any of QT's other films?  Did you like any of them, appeal or any of that?  I've watched everything, even Four Rooms for heaven's sakes, so that may be why I'm all about Pulp, but if you aren't a QT guy, then I can see why you may be unsure of seeing it.  But the Wolf, Ving, The Watch, Sam at his best, the comeback of Travolta, the Shot, "Do you like Oak?", The guns of the Navarone............

Once film was over, I knew my life and the movie industry in general had changed for the better.  Sorry for the quality of the pic, but that is my og ticket stub, and it's been in my wallet since Oct. 17, 1994.  Price for feature then was $5.00.

Enh.
Nowitness41Dirk:
It's funny.
Mildly appealing.
Nowitness41Dirk:
It's Quentin Tarantino.
So? There's a lot of people who genuinely are Tarantino fans... and WAY more people who just like him because it's trendy; they like him because they're supposed to, because they want to keep their man card, or some reason other than being a true fan of the guy.
Nowitness41Dirk:

It's a dark, violent movie about hitmen that everyone is SUPPOSED to see.

"OMGZORZ! All the clocks have 4:20! Duuuude! How can you not like that?!"

Neat little FYI. Not worth 2 hrs. of my time, though.

"Samuel L. is badassss!!! Go watch it!"

Just because of that? Is it a good story? Doubt it. Inspirational? Motivational? Look at the movies I listed earlier. A Beautiful Mind... The Game... Antwone Fisher... and... Pulp Fiction? "One of these things is not like the other."
laugh.gif

You guys honestly think you're the first people to tell me I have to see this movie?
laugh.gif
It's a cult classic, for crying out loud. However, I'm more excited about finishing Sugar when I get the time in the next few days (watched the first half the other day).

See, THOSE are generally the kinds of responses that pull me into a movie. Actually, I take that back; the answer to the question 'How?' is usually what pulls me into a movie.

Sooo... how? How did that movie change your life?

The movie industry? I can google the cultural impact and probably write a report about how the film industry changed in part because of Pulp Fiction, without even seeing it.

But YOUR life? How did that movie change your life?

Spoiler [+]
my gut tells me you didn't really mean that,  but we'll see.
