No thanks.

Ides of March looks real sharp.

Ah, yes. Battleship. The theater I was in to see Cowboys and Aliens was busting up laughing after that preview. Sleeper Oscar movie? Sleeper best movie in history is more like it

It's tough for me to get into shows with laugh tracks nowadays.

I can still appreciate the classics but for new shows... ehhh

Oh, right. My turn for Movie Club. Congrats, CP! You finally get to watch one of the films you think are Korean 'Murder She Wrote' movies
smile.gif
These should all be on Netflix. If not I can, uh, help out.

Trailers in the spoilers.

I Saw the Devil. Dark, violent, gritty revenge film. One of my favorites from this year. The ending was certainly something else.
Spoiler [+]

The Good, the Bad & the Weird. Havent seen this, but it looks like fun.
Spoiler [+]

Memories of Murder. Much better than the trailer made it look. I was blown away when I saw this for the first time. It's like Zodiac, but better for those that have seen that movie.
Spoiler [+]

Mother. Another murder mystery, focusing on a different approach to solving the case. Fantastic acting from everyone involved, especially Bin Won who went full ******. This is better than The Secret in Their Eyes imo, which beat Mother for the best foreign film in last years Oscar awards.
Spoiler [+]

Oldboy. The modern masterpiece that started it all and pretty much introduced America to Korean films.
Spoiler [+]

Have fun voting.

I'll go with Oldboy since I've been wanting to watch it for a while. I'm gonna get to Chocolate later on today as well.

Just saw that preview, yeah, Fracture meets Michael Clayton should be good.  Not to mention the added players from Before the Devil Knows You're Dead.

Johnny, you're going to love Chocolate for several reasons, A, you're review for the purposes of what we're doing in here, B, strong girls in movies (though, this is slightly different) and C, you wanted a good martial arts movie.  One movie, all 3 topics taken care of for you.

I'm surprised a little that no one mentioned Jolie for strong women roles.
ohwell.gif
From jump, Gia, The Bone Collector (though Denzel helped) Girl Interrupted, Lara Croft movies (underrated) Life or Something Like It, Taking Lives (Loved this) the movie that probably changed everyone's views on her, Mr and Mrs Smith, A Mighty Heart, Wanted and then Salt.  Everything, the girl can do everything.  Crazy, Gorgeous, kick your @#$, cry on command, slutty, or classy, clean or dirty, the girl can pull it off.  She can be a diplomat, or she can be a spy.  She has a better resume than even I remembered.  And I left off movies that she's done that were good, but were the more male dominated films, Gone in 60, The Good Shepherd, Sky Captain, Alexander, Pushing Tin, the Tourist......now she has Cleopatra coming out possibly.  I hope she nails that, and I think she will.  And talk of them extending Salt into sequel(s)  What more can she do?

Another show strong for female casting, Desperate Housewives.  Probably not many of you watch that, but I've seen a lot of it with the wife, and damn it, it's not half bad.  Great writing, little overly dramatic (soapy), but I noticed QUICK, that Felicity Huffman can act, and so can the crazy chick from Melrose, and Eva and Terri Hatcher hold their own pretty good too.  They need to get Huffman some roles on the big screen though is the major thing I notice.

I missed the strong women debate, but Jolie is one of my favorite actresses. You forgot to mention Changeling, CP, arguably her best performance which I think she should have won an Oscar for.

@#$%, I thought I put that in there.  I swear I did.

My bad for that then, but yes, another role she played well.  (I haven't seen it, but wife did, and my wife hates her guts and still said she was great in it, that says something to me)

Big J, go back like 2-3 pages, you'll see us talkin about it.
