Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

I've never seen Pulp Fiction
WHAT?!

Go watch it now. How is this even possible? You have been failed miserably by the people you call 'friends'. You're not a man, are you? No; the correct answer is... no. Why are you still sitting there? STOP READING THIS!

Matter of fact, why are you still on NikeTalk?

*banned*

/I swear, that's how it feels people respond when they learn someone hasn't seen this movie.

You watch a lot of  "un-mainstream" movies, where do you find them and when they are coming out?  If you don't mind my asking.
Mostly from critics' "most anticipated" lists of an upcoming year, just to see a number of lists with descriptions. Or just going through this (really tedious): http://www.moviefone.com/coming-soon?icid=cshub_nav

But like I said, Dogtooth was an Academy Award nominee. That's always a good way to come up with different suggestions, too. Even outside of the Foreign or Documentary categories, there are always a few nominees here or there in the bigger awards that we have no idea about.

I don't download anymore. Anything I watch is via television, Netflix/redbox, or theater. We have a great indie theater here that brings a lot of different movies to the area. And it serves liquor, wine and real food.

No shots taken.  I just know my tastes.  And Pulp Fiction just sounds like a movie I wouldn't enjoy.

The fact y'all mentioned Tarantino already turns me off a bit.  Kill Bill was only ok for me.

I use Comingsoon.net, and I used to read Entertainment Weekly to find out info as much as I could, I'd use Yahoo, IMDB, word of mouth, anything I could get my eyes/ears on.

It's certainly easier with bigger names to find stuff, but smaller movies just seem harder to find.  Maybe I don't look hard enough, but I'll give that site a look, see what I can gleam from it.
I love those kind of theatres, I just don't have the cash for those these days.  I can't believe it's damn near 50-60 bucks for a family of 3 nowadays.

Hence me resorting to friends finding stuff online and putting it on thumbdrives for me.  *which is probably part of the reason movies are so expensive now*

Amel, I'm pretty damn sure you would like Pulp.  There's not a second in the movie where I felt cheated.  If you like dialogue, plot, story, and great acting, then this movie  is talkin to ya.  I promise you.  If I'm wrong, then you can recommend me the crappiest movie you can think of and I'll watch it and give you a full report back.  Dead serious.

Ska, locate a copy yet?

I'll give it a try this week maybe, but I'm pretty sure I won't like it.  My taste in movies is very very particular.

I'll put it to you this way.  The whole country loved The Dark Knight.  Not me
ohwell.gif
I actually liked the first movie better.

^ By the first one, do you mean Batman Begins? Because I'll definitely agree that it's better than Dark Knight.

I think people love Dark Knight more because Heath Ledger died than they would if he were alive.

Yea, Batman Begins.

I liked the parts with Heath Ledger in it in TDK but it seemed to be the only parts I liked.

that always happens, but there is no denying that he destroyed that role

But to me dark knight was better
The Joker and Two Face > Ra's Al Ghul and scarecrow

Kev:

Contagion (2011)
Steven Soderbergh presents this look at what happens when an infectious disease threatens humanity through varied viewpoints from an ensemble cast, including Marion Cotillard, Matt Damon, Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, Laurence Fishburne, and Kate Winslet
You'll be looking forward to this I assume.

Also, just goin thru your site with a quick once over, I think you would see that Comingsoon actually has more info/look aheads if you're interested in that.

I've heard the Batman Begins was better before, and it don't bother me too much.  I like Dark Knight more simply because of the performances of Ledger and Eckhart, but I can at least understand where people come from with Begins.  Not even seeing Pulp Fiction, ever, uh, confuses me.

Pulp Fiction should be available On Demand under classics.  The only question is when I will feel up to watching it.  We'll see.

I am definitely looking forward to Contagion. I think I had that on my short 2011 list.

I'm picturing it as what The Happening could have been (such as... good
laugh.gif
) , but maybe it'll be more of an atypical "zombie" movie. Either way, I'll probably be there on opening night.

Oh, I forgot to mention Anthony Mackie in The Adjustment Bureau. I think he's super underrated (which is understandable, considering he's rarely played a lead role).

Two of my other favorite, kind of low-key actors: Peter Sarsgaard and Paul Dano.

It's nice to know I'm not the only one that likes Batman Begins more than The Dark Knight.
