What are you talking about?

I was thinking how funny Team America was and how a sequel is needed.

Matt and Trey said at the time they hated working with real actors, so they did a puppet movie. The puppet movie was so cumbersome and difficult they just decided "no more movies". That's why they haven't done a proper film since.

jpzx jpzx are you a fan of Prince? If not, how did you feel about Purple Rain?

Given it’s essentially one long music video, I’m always interested in the input of non-fans

I’m apathetic to Prince, I like about 10 songs. I really liked the movie, how it showed First Ave and Minnesota, the musical cultural variety at First & 7th St entry at that time.

The scene of him singing all the way through Purple Rain after what his happened to his dad had me zoned in, that was amazing. I had kind of always tossed that song away as more of a brand and less as a song, but that scene changed that.

I have been listening to Love Sign by Morris Day on and off all day :lol the girl in the movie (never seen her before, she looks like she does mostly foreign roles) was 🔥

Makes me understand him more based on what happened with his parents (assuming it’s mostly if not all autobiographical).

Watching the Special Features (I had the DVD) is the first time I really did any background on him—I was just 8 when the new millennium hit so I didn’t grow up with him. He has always been more of an icon of the past to me.

“On what grounds? I’m not a drunk, I don’t **** other women, I don’t mistreat you. I’ve never hit you. I don’t even try to touch you since you made it so abundantly clear just how unnecessary you consider me to be!”

“But…I did support you when you got your license, and some people might think that entitles me to half of what’s yours. So…turn out the light when you come back to bed. Okay?”

As many have said, I too have trouble settling on 4 favorites. When it comes down to it, a favorite is something that you can enjoy time and time again without it getting stale. With that in mind:

-Godfather
-The Dark Knight
-The Shawshank Redemption
-Ocean's 11

Of course there are dozens of others but I feel like these 4 I can pretty much pick up from any point and watch all the way to the end, over and over and over again and all for different reasons. Godfather is timeless to me. A beautifully crafted epic that's directed and paced perfectly. Heath Ledger's joker is probably my favorite acting performance of all time and the action pieces are always fantastic. The opening heist should be required viewing for any aspiring filmmaker.

I don't know what makes Shawshank so good but it might be Morgan Freeman's narration? Maybe the short movie within a movie when Brooks tries to rejoin society after a 50 year bid? That scene where they all enjoy beers in the sun after tarring the roof? Every scene is perfect. Ocean's 11 is just the coolest movie ever made.
