Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

I'm so ready for that ****. :hat

The next couple months will be fun for me. Olympus, GI Joe, Fast 6, Iron Man 3, the Gosling one above, and even the non musts for me, Star Trek 2, Oblivion, and Oz all look very watchable, just not my "must" films that I want to see no matter what.

Yes, I know most of my "musts" are crap, I know. I'm a sucker for mindless 2 hours of movie watching, sue me. :lol

I was talking to a co-worker about Tom Hardy's Mad Max as I posted above. He didn't know about the reboot & he told me something I didn't know.... Tom Hardy once tried MCing.... :x

I'm going to watch RockNRolla & Black Hawk Down again sometime this weekend... I've been in the mood to watch those again...

Love this scene from RockNRolla.... :lol The embed option was disabled on the youtube page...

Holy **** that's crazy. I just went thru my stuff last night and pulled out a few that I need to rewatch. I passed on both Rolla and BHD. :lol

I liked all those movies of that ilk tho, Rock N Rolla, Revolver, Lock Stock, Layer Cake. I have a hard time with some of the dialogue at times, but they always have solid casts and familiar faces.

I like British crime dramas too... I posted The Sweeney trailer a couple of pages back starring Ray Winstone aka Mr French from The Departed... I just read that it will be available on VOD March 1st... Can't wait... It also stars Damien Lewis from Homeland & Band Of Brothers...

Yeah Yuh!!! Can't wait to see this with my son...

Early Buzz: ‘Man of Steel’ Is An Action-Packed, Great Time
Posted on Wednesday, February 27th, 2013 by Germain Lussier

Zack Snyder‘s Man of Steel has begun to screen and word is that it’s fantastic. We’d heard that executives at Warner Bros. truly loved the film and now, reports are coming in from other people too. (And from people who don’t have billions and billions of dollars potentially invested in the success of a rebooted Superman.)

In particular, JoBlo is reporting the film is nearly complete (save for the 3D conversion) and despite the somber tone the trailers suggest, the film is chock full of action. We’ll talk more specifics below.

Here are the bullet points the JoBlo article make about Man of Steel. Their words, not ours.

Imagine a Nolan story with Snyder effects/action
It’s the best movie of the year.
There’s TONS of action with Superman kicking all kinds of *** in his suit.
The cape is CG’d most of the time so it can look awesome.
They have intentionally left out most of the the Super action in trailers to save it.
It’s not nearly as dour and serious as the trailers suggest.
The movie is complete, minus the 3D post-conversion, which is currently taking place
Calling it “the best movie of the year” is a bit pre-mature but all of this is still quite promising.

In addition to this report, sometimes just living in Hollywood and conversing with people you hear things. And one of the things I’ve heard is that everything this scooper told JoBlo is right. That everyone who has seen Man of Steel loves it and it’s the ***-kicking, action-packed and heartfelt Superman movie you can’t wait to see.

If the film is that good (or even half that good) it means very good things for all DC movies moving forward, Justice League in particular.

With release scheduled for June 14, we’ll likely be seeing some updated, more action-specific, trailers in the coming weeks. Definitely with The Hangover Part III (which comes out a month earlier and has yet to release a teaser) and hopefully sooner.

Have you heard anything like this about Man of Steel? Does this get you excited?

It's easy cuz it's only 4 eps. Writers have shown they're not up for a long form story being told.

I can't possibly speak enough about Flight.

Fan-f*****g-tastic.

I wholeheartedly disagree w/ the collective 'Ho-hum' opinion in here.

Compelling. So tragic.

Loved it.

I was ho-hum cuz it was Denzel. Seen that movie 5-6 times just without the plane.

It was good, it just was John Q, Hurricane, He Got Game, Man on Fire, etc. Great at what he does, but flawed way getting there. Every character.
GREAT movie
Absolutely.

Just finished it right now, and I think it's sad that I've seen it made fun of and misunderstood so much.

I don't know which pedestal to stand on; the one about his life being controlled by something he continues to give control to, the one about his problem causing him to lose meaningful relationships despite having a one-of-a-kind talent, or any of the many subplots regarding religion, politics, and his son.

He was actively and passionately trying to do what was best for his family in a very selfless manner in John Q. In Flight, 'doing what's best for his family' and 'selfless' are FAAAAR cries from the role I just finished watching Denzel portray, until the final testimony.

He has never played a role where he was a CONFLICTED villain, someone who had completely lost control to the point where even his good intentions were drowned (pun unintended).

Training Day? He wasn't conflicted; that man was evil, straight up. Got Game? Made some bad decisions, but wasn't TAKEN OVER.

And second of all, I'm getting tired of this 'Same role' slander. :lol Man, so what? DeNiro is a quintessential mobster/badass, even when it's supposed to be a comedy (Analyze This/That, Meet the Parents/Fockers), and he is hailed as one of the best actors of all time. Not everyone has the ability to pull off Blow/Alice in Wonderland/Public Enemy/Pirates. Some go the "Jack of all trades" route, others say "Do one thing, and do it well."

I don't know about people "making fun of it", but I don't think it's outrageous to say the trailer didn't accurately reflect the movie. Obviously, it's difficult to promote a movie that's a darker, in-depth look at alcoholism, addiction, and a broken life, rather than more of a lively drama about the aftermath of a plane crash.

The trailer showed him saying he was drinking, pouring out the booze, throwing a bottle, fighting with his kid, but the majority was the excitement of the crash... John Goodman... the media frenzy.. and building to the final hearing. I think it's reasonable to assume it wouldn't be such a heavy movie, but "This guy made a mistake and drank before he flew... but Don Cheadle is going to work and try to save him from prison".

He
John Q was heart, he wanted to make something right, but went about it the wrong way. He was tryin to do good, you're on his side, but what he did was wrong.

Flight, he did good, he saved a lot of people, his heart was right, but he went about it the wrong way. Drunk and high. Meant well, you're on his side, but what he was doing was wrong.

Sound familiar?

That's basically a flawed protagonist. They exist and that kind of story arc "Do good, they're bad, you like them" can be applied to countless characters, not just Denzel.
