Silence of the Lambs - Thriller
Nice selection. Believe it or not, I read the original screenplay by Ted Tally, watched the film, and read Syd Fields analysis of the film just earlier this week.
I never really put together the idea that Crawford and Lecter were filling a "father" figure void left by Clarice's dead father until I read the analysis. Then again, in the screenplay it really seemed like Crawford would have been more of a love interest. I still should have caught it though..

I think it's a good pick

the first 7 top movies are amazing. Then there is a drop off

I've got a feeling you're gonna take my sleeper pick next.
Questionable #3 pick IMO
Sometimes you gotta pick the player that fits your team best.

Any chance you've still got that analysis? Been meaning to give the movie a second viewing for a while now, just haven't had the time/desire to look and listen to Jodie Foster.

I only have a hardcopy of the analysis, but it's more of a "how to structure" your screenplay analysis more than anything else. In terms of the actual film, it talks about what was omitted from the original screenplay and how a lot of things were left out of the novel (which wasn't necessarily a bad thing). If I find a source online, I'll send you a link.

I have a feeling my 2nd round choice is gonna be gone by the time I'm up...

I'll definitely reach on my 2nd pick since I won't get to pick for awhile with the snake draft

I think Silance of the Lambs is the only film, (in modern time) that's been released in January and has gone on to win best Pic.  Funny note, when Lambs debuted on HBO, TV Guide had it rated at 2 stars.  Wasn't given 4 stars until it won all the awards.
