Anyone have a method that works for shrinking the newer polyester new eras? Headband is roomy and crown high as hell smh

^Hate super high crowns on hats smh. They just look bad.

That's one of the reasons why I don't mess with New Era that much anymore. The inconsistency in shape and sizing...

Switched to snapbacks for New Era. The sizing wasn't an issue anymore but the shape was still off. I bought 3 new era snapbacks. One was really low and wide, the other was too tall, the last one was just right

You gotta go with pre imported material poly, which is basically 2007-2015 poly. Made in USA is not enough anymore.

The old made in China poly never really broke in for me. I have a twins M USA poly cap and a china poly cap that i interchange daily and it's crazy to see the contrast. The USA poly has broken in nicely, almost dad hat status with a nice broken in crown. While the china version is almost still looking brand new ( with a higher than normal crown). Still a bit stiff and unnaturally shaped.

Some would say to wet the cap lightly and throw it in a car. That tends to work with wool and older poly's. Made in China poly is resilient though. I've broken in some made in China wool nicely just by daily wear. I don't mess with the new high crown no fuzz crap though. Made in USA with imported materials poly basically = made in China poly.

It's pretty much why I won't even pay extra for HC customs. There is no such thing as regular made in USA anymore. It's all imported materials (IM).

With that, I skipped some lids and HC sales and got these three for the price of one HC cap.

1997 Seattle Mariners atlerante compass on field. First year of the compass. Grey under 100% wool. Made in USA.
2007 Baltimore Orioles all black. First year poly. 100% poly. Made in USA.
2006 NY Mets on field. Last year wool. Made in USA. 100% wool.

I went years looking for a mets on field in my size. Now I've seen at least 4-5 in the last year. Price was right on all of them.
Baltimore was brand new and under $10.
Seattle cap was an iffy buy. Used with a somewhat iffy crown but I've been looking for my size for years and for under $20, a bargain.

Bonus shot. Made in China compass vs. The real deal 1997

It's hard to tell if the silver is off because of age and dirt and yellowing. So I won't go beyond that. The teal color is off. Og has the real PNW darker green-blue. The custom is quite a bit brighter. As far as the logo, the made in China version has a PNW blue or teal border around the compass points. From the bigger points to the smaller points, the og is straight silver and PNW green on the points. Makes a hell of a difference.

In some MLB fitted news, the Miami Marlins on field logo got a tad smaller

vs.

It didnt really make the 'news' like the comically large Detroit logo.

Some new pickups. Been wrestling for a minute on if I wanted to deal with retro classics again. One of the pairs I've had since launch is one of the most comfortable caps I own. Then I saw a restock of chief wahoo and the twins M.

Took the bait.

Logos not perfect. Side by side with '95 og.

Less seamless. Less defined. Og logo kills.

Whole family affair

Late 80s era br. Retro classic tl. Last year's tbtc tr. 2005 era br.

Even the of era had a true presence with the logo. That feels lost on the retro classic.

Last up a 2005 era twins tc in red. Cheap wool finds will always be bought.

About the retro classics. A big issue early on was sizing, glue stains, and loose treads. Gotta say, both pass the eye test. One 8 fits like an 8. While the other fits like a 7 7/8. That beats the few 8s I had that fit like 8 1/2s. So maybe they're learning.

green rhino123 green rhino123 nice! Crazy to see them all in one photo. You don't realize only two teams had two caps. Everyone else wore just one for the entire season(s). That's true identity right there.

I mentioned
https://www.wrigleyvillesports.com/ s before. They are having a 10% or 15% off sale.

Hint. Do a search for MLB authentic cap. From there you can narrow your search down. Select men's and then select the size or sizes. Then sort by price. All of the better deals are priced at $10.00. Theres also a spend $25/for free shipping coupon code. But the 15% off and free shipping if u reach $100 is the Pinnacle of double dipping.

green rhino123 green rhino123 That vintage 1990 photo got my mind thinking, Just how far have you come from having just two teams in the majors having two sets of hats.

On the onset, it feels like every team has 15 caps and identities are being lost. I was a bit surprised by my findings.

Using https://uniformlineup.com/ I compared a five year span. First 2017, and then 2012.

My basis was any cap worn more than 10 times was designated by me as a prominent cap (I know there are some teams that have official alternates that get worn once a year).

Let's see 2017.

I split it up into #1 of prominent caps per team
9 total with 1 cap
1 Boston- 147 all navy blue
1 Chicago (AL)- 136 all black
1 Chicago (NL)- 145 all blue
1 Los Angeles (AL)- 146 all red

And for 2012, we retroactively look at the following
11 total with 1 cap
Boston 1
Chicago (NL) 1
Kansas City 1
Los Angeles (AL) 1
Los Angeles (NL) 1
Miami 1
Milwaukee 1
New York (AL) 1

Tampa Bay 1
Toronto 1
------------------------
15 total with 2 caps
Arizona 2
Atlanta 2
Chicago (AL) 2
Cincinnati 2
Colorado 2
Detroit 2
Houston 2
Oakland 2
Philadelphia 2
Pittsburgh 2
San Diego 2
San Francisco 2
Seattle 2
Texas 2
Washington 2
-------------------
4 total with 3 caps
Baltimore 3
Cleveland 3
Minnesota 3
St. Louis 3

And zero with 4

Tl;Dr
To compare 2012 to 2017

11 teams with 1 cap in 2012. 9 in 2017
15 teams with 2 caps in 2012. 12 in 2017.
4 teams with 3 caps in 2012. 7 in 2017.
0 teams with 4 caps in 2012. 2 in 2017.

We're definitely trending towards more variety. But it's not so bad yet. The one offs make it worse than it really is.

Ya I respect when teams use just one primary cap.
Two is cool - a home & road - as well since that trend is over 100 years old.

I also like when teams go back to older caps like Baltimore...They had to
admit after a while that the multi-colored panel with cartoon bird face with cap on
is their best creation & the most popular with fans.
