Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Joe is ******ed.

He be ready to argue down points that aren't even being made. Akademiks be on the way to his points and Joe jumps right and argues the littlest ****.

"Back when Lil Whoever was on soundcloud....

"EVERYONE was on soundcloud...what are you talking about???"

this is what tax was talking about with that psychologist **** he tries to do with women.

arguing a miniscule insignificant point and distracting a woman from what they were originally talking about works with third world country strippers but has no value in a show where i want to see a nerd and industry vet shoot the **** about rap.

go back and watch old episodes and you'll notice he stays doing this just to try to get akademiks to concede to something. a lot of times he plays word games to get akademiks to correct himself on something he didnt even say lol.

i remember ak called someone a prodigy and he made ak apologize for comparing that person to Prodigy :smh::lol:

didnt watch this but they need to hold off that keef apple music documentary until a few more clones come out to really put into perspective how influential he is from the sonics to "gang" being used the way it is now down to how upcoming rappers even shoot their videos

I think it's time. Rap moves faster now a days so the time to document his influence seems right

It does suck that he could have been so much bigger than he is. I still enjoy his older music, but his new sound is almost pop-ish.

Never heard Keef get credit for thot, always heard people say 2 Chainz. Not that I care, the word is dumb as ****. First person I heard say it was Silkk the Shocker on an old TRU album.

Soulja Boy, Lil B, Keef and Plies are probably the most influential group over the rappers that are coming up over the last few years. It's funny, they all got clowned back then and they're the heroes of these young rappers today.

Soulja Boy really impacted the game as far as getting exposure online and using social media as a platform, he still makes a lot of money now which is crazy

Nah....Keef and that drill wave brought that "Thot" word to the masses. That's Chicago gang lingo through and through.

T. hat
H. oe
O. ver
T. here

All that "gang gang" sht....and "opps"....them limp gang signs, throwing up rakes etc is Keef and drill.

Speaking of yesterday's episode....how y'all feel about that Tay-K situation.

Personally, the song is fire. Story and him is wild though

Boosie gotta be added to most influential too

NBA Youngboy
Kodak Black
Lil Snupe

Direct disciples of Boosie

Y'all think he could still get back on?

yes

he's 22

someoneis gonna start their career tomorrow who is the same age

uzi is 23

and tbh he still comes out w bangers he just has no machine behind him

these are from like June

Joe was wildn' yesterday talking about hot ***** being the hardest rap song in the past 10 years

yes

and tbh he still comes out w bangers he just has no machine behind him

I've been saying this for the past few years.

Artists don't control if they're "on" or not...and people find that hard to understand for some reason. The machine doesn't need him anymore. It already used him to spawn 1 million more Chief Keefs. He was the biggest cultural influencer of his generation.

Plies isn't influential? Y'all crazy. Mad people been stealing his flow and slang. People stole his whole style, even adlibs.

Boosie ain't as influential as the other cats.

When Ak said that Tay K song was garbage, I knew it must have been. He never says anything bad about music. He's B made and likes everything.

Keef is done for a few reasons. Everyone stole his sound so he's not important anymore. He pissed a lot of people in the industry off, they're not forgiving or forgetting. Lastly he's been cold too long. People don't care anymore.

One thing I didn't think about until Joe said it was the way More Life was handled. It made a lot of sense. They spent a lot on Views and it didn't do as expected. Don't let Hotline Bling fool you. So it makes sense to put out More Life with barely any promo and not put money into it. It'll still sell well and make more money. I was confused why Drake dropped it and kind of left it alone. Makes a lot sense.

He's only cold on the "mainstream" stage.

That kid could keep making iTunes throwaways and tour for the rest of his life. He still has a massive cult following that casuals won't see because the machine isn't backing him.

Funny thing is, in theory...he SHOULD be able to establish himself as one of the biggest independent artists ever but he doesn't have the support system to do so. Maybe he should call Chance and ask him his "secret".

Plies influential... wow. Maybe his neighborhood but I've never seen nothing and said damn they got that from plies. Keef and meek don't get the respect they deserve on how influential over the youth they are/were. Every young scammer/dboy/local rapper/or dude with money got a og DC look alike pendant. Dudes treat rollies like trophies cuz dude. And keef to me is the biggest, he the reason $100 videos popping, got everybody saying thot and glo up, gang gang, etc etc

This is true times 10000000.

It's rappers that ain't mainstream that's still poppin on some level. I don't hear **** about Chief Keef except on the internet now. I'm sure he still do his shows and all that but he fumbled. He was a kid but mistake after mistake cost him. Shoulda never signed to interscope, not showing up to a video, the mush mouth interviews. Him and his team blew it. I never messed with his music but he was on fire, he ain't close to that now at 22.

He still young but your age don't really matter in rap now. How long you been around does and sometimes fans move on to the next trend, Chief Keef ain't the "cool" _ no more.
