Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Everywhere. And Uzi had a base by then. Lucid dreams while a big song wasn't around that much to warrant a 6x platinum album. People are truly underestimating how big of a goal and number that is. Drake doesn't even have a number to match that for an album. Labels getting too blatlant with boosting numbers

People are in here acting like we're saying the song wasn't big. "OMG the 15-25 crowd loves it". Ok, but it ain't no 6x platinum, Bodak Yellow, ox tour life level popular. :lol

Ain't buying it.

It's one of many songs. Don't know why you keep focusing on that part . We have been brought it up. It's getting more blatant and this is an example of it.

Y'all treating 6x platinum as if it's nothing. I can't name any other artists who have dropped huge records with the last two years to do these numbers outside of this and Cardi.

How though? Like, what makes it so blatant? The song was literally everywhere, played on every radio station, the vid has over a quarter of a billion views, reached peak pop culture w/ this

Not to mention he already had records booming before Lucid hit, giving lucid all the more validity to how successful its been. All Girls Are The Same was big for him.

Like It's absolutely as big if not bigger than Bodak yellow. What point are you making with that? How many songs WERE as big as Lucid to warrant 6x platinum?

I think you're grossly underrating how massive lucid has been.

I think what's being lost within the Lucid Dreams convo is whether or not y'all are taking it's global reach. Even if you not hearing it on yo block, that song has a global reach topping a lot of charts around the world

Joint is not bigger than Bodak. Bodak came out in June and buzzed all the way until the following year. Almost a full year. That's almost unheard of.

Lucid started buzzing shortly before summer time and has been dead for a little while now.

_’s don’t care about that **** man

If they don’t perceive it be popping in the limited spaces they tapped in with, then it ain’t really popping and the numbers are fake

_’s dont even hear about most of this **** until the label marketing kick yet they think their world view is omnipresent lol

Except Lucid came out in June of 2017 and it broke into the billboard top 10 in June of this year and got as high as #2. So it's arch was similar to Bodak Yellow. So its been buzzing literally for over a year and still was the #13 record in the country last week.

You are right, it's almost unheard of these days for a record to be buzzing for that long, but Lucid Dreams is literally doing that right now.

Notice I said buzzed not released. His joints didnt get this massive play until summer. He was strictly SoundCloud. I can say that for a fact because that and YouTube was the only place where you can hear him

Moving goalpost fam. It was released on Soundcloud in June of 2017, and was buzzing. It accumulated over 3 Million plays BEFORE it was officially released. It was out of here, much like Bodak yellow.

The fact that it was only on Soundcloud and YouTube at first and still was buzzing heavy should tell you how big of a record Lucid Dreams was, and is now.

There’s literally no reason for me to believe Keith Sweat and Jacquees are cool lol or if he even knew him before this R&B king stuff.

Look at his eyes fam, Keith was ready to catch a body when he walked over there lol

These dudes ain't trippin on this like fans

Dornell Jones wrote and produced on his album. Carl Thomas knew who he was. Lot of OG's rock with son.
