Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Hus was one of my favorites from the bay during the mid 2000’s but I always questioned his accessibility to people not from here

I'm from Va, my blue cousins listened to dude heavy and put me on. They put me on to a lot of lowkey folks from out there.

facts the bay been heavily slept on period. i'm amazed that *****s just hearing about dj fresh and i'm from atlanta.

boy i wore this album out... hus used to come with that work :pimp:

Same man. Senior year this was one of my get money albums

I enjoyed alot of hiphop this year man. All of it can't encompass a top 10, but this is what I found myself listening to the most.

This list is in no particular order.

Royce Da 5'9 -Book of Ryan
Black Thought- Streams of Thought Vol. 1 and 2 ( They felt more like EP's than albums)
Jay Rock-Redemption
Travis Scott-Astroworld
Lupe-Drogas Wave
Nipsey Hussle-Victory Lap
Phonte-No News is good news
Meek-Championships
Future-Beastmode 2

Honorable mentions
Nas-Nasir
Cole-KOD
Phryme

I find that hard to believe because Thug was on it...and Gunna is signed to Thug

Apparently Gunna was her 1st choice. Either way, he needs new management.

The story comes from an off-hand comment Gunna made to Audiomack’s Marketing Director, Joe Vango. Per Vango: "Gunna came to Audiomack back in March to play us new music. We were talking about an unreleased song with him and [Young] Thug. That was their second song they recorded, and [we talked about] their relationship. Next thing you know, he says that [he missed out on "Havana"] and his manager was like 'Bruh.' He kept calling her 'Camilly.'"

Lol smh ...tariq nasheed got me hip to this joint a few years ago..I didnt start listrning to west coast music like that until 2013-2014

I’m glad he ain’t hop on the Camila Cabello song. Cubans are racist, she just wanted that crossover appeal.

Also, Gunna is a whole lick out here. You always gotta have a few sober dudes in the clique. These dudes be so high or inebriated, then end up getting got

Camilla said they wrote it with Thug in mind but Thug said he wasn't feeling the track so I wouldnt be surprised if Gunna team got their hands on it

not only that
nate was more hood/gangsta despite being a pastors son
as ALOT of these so called gangsta rappers

I had no idea Nate Dogg was basically a goon that could sing until I saw some documentary a couple years ago (maybe Unsung). No wonder he always had this cold stoic expression on his face.

Husalah shouldve became bigger than what he was. Two factors stopped his momentum, 1. He caught a major dope charge with a lot of weight, people in the Bay/Cali say he straight up snitched after getting caught. Supposedly he got caught with a huge amount of Coke, and

I think people in the music scene stopped messing with homie after he got arrested, because the momentum he had stopped after that incident. He wasn’t making as much music, plus it was like he disappeared from the music scene after that arrest.

2nd. When his music was hot in the underground scene, he didn’t move around enough to connect with bigger names, and people more connected in the mainstream side of the industry. Everybody in the Bay back then said he was making large amounts of money off of the streets, so music wasn’t a big priority to him like we would think it was to him. He was a spitter though, I’ll give him that.

Hus dropped a new album this year that was pretty damn solid.
The snitching thing is a heavy rumor out here though, think he did 5 years if I remember correctly.
