Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Salute to Dame.

Every now and then wonder if it would be dope to see him pair back up with Biggs, and Hov. Especially now that everyone’s message of ownership is the loudest it seems to have ever been. The needle has moved now and cats have peeped that there’s even more money to be made outside of music as well. I imagine we’ll see them all together again at some point, along with the likes of Puff, Nas, Dre, JD, Master P, etc.

You don't have to go that route in this era though. Over the few years the many of the top rappers have become guys that have either rejected materialism or at least scaled it way down. Chance, Cole, Kendrick, and Logic stand out as examples of relying more on telling your truth and being relatable versus being someone everyone wanted to be because of their possessions/money/status.

I agree somewhat. A problem that we've talked about on here before is just the fact that everybody story not gonna be as compelling as those dudes lol. When its like that you prolly gotta lean on some other stuff.

Look at Cole specifically, he looked like somebody caught him red handed driving that Ghost because he know a chunk of his marketing and brand is centered around being the Anti of those type of rap _'s.

Only so many _'s can play that role tho. In a way the existence of those type rappers are what make his **** so effective

it depends. Some of these ****** really spending 100s if thousands of clothes. Not in one day but over the course of 6 mths I can see it. I remember one of them rae sremm dudes had like a 30k coat on.

I be seeing the price on some of this high end **** these dudes be rocking from head to toe on ig and **** crazy. Unless they rocking it for a pic/video and it ain’t theirs like some of these dudes do with jewels.

And all that designer ish goes on sale! My cousin is a street dude/hustler. He spent $800 on some Robin Jeans and $550 for a Robins T-shirt.

I got some Margiela ankle straps sneakers off yoox.com for $280.

Link up with him on his birthday one year. See he’s got the black strap margielas.

I said “cuzzo, how much you paid?” He was like $700...

I palmed my face like bruh, you could’ve got them joints dirt cheap online. And, n_ wears like a size 8

“Hood rich” dudes do not care about much of a bargain, they actually WANT to pay retail.

Like my cousins BD who bought her some gucci heals on sale, and asked the sales associate to put the regular price tag on the shoe.

Y’all remember we use to leave the price tags on our clothes in the 90s and 2000s

Anybody remember when BET finally started getting concerned about the stereotypical way black people were being portrayed on their programming, so they debuted a show called Hot Ghetto Mess (then renamed it We Got To Do Better), which featured black people being portrayed in stereotypical ways?? Good times.
