Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Don't ever disrespect me. I never played any of those Future albums.

It's funny we were just talking about Big Sean and how trash that album was. Now he's putting out an album with just Metro Boomin only. I like Metro's beats BUT two problems. Big Sean is too lyrical for that, rather hear him with other producers. Not the generic southern beats we hear all the time. Another thing, mad people make beats that sound just like Metro so it ain't even a big deal.

What's the story on that Ryan Leslie's situation

I can't believe Ryan Leslie gave up his entire catalog instead of paying that 1 mil reward...

Yeah people really think regional **** still ain't in play . Based on that thinking, Bobby Smurda was a one hit wonder because Bobby ***** and Computers got no play on the west coast like that.

I know you making a different point but bobby is a one hit wonder

mainly due to him being in prison tho

Big Sean “too lyrical” for Metro?

The best usually isn't the hottest. Between the power players in hip hop, its clear Kendrick is the best

Similar to how many will tell you Nas is a better lyricist than Jay, yet Jay has the game on lock

That cant really apply to the Future/Kendrick argument, while Nas might have been the superior lyricist Jay was still in the 1 percent when to came to bars. Weren't too many dudes on the mainstream touching his pen game. Period

For obvious reasons. And imo, Cole don't belong in that list anymore.

Why is that? I was disappointed with the last album as well but lets not act like since Born Sinner every time he drops something the attention/sales don't go through roof. His album came out almost a year ago and they still play songs from it on the radio. Atleast when I listen

I think Big Sean is too late with the collab album thing. **** is dead. I lost my mind when I heard French and Asap had one in the works

Solely due to the fact that his last album was buns, his catalogue isn't the greatest, and he's been so quite this year. Personally, I think he peaked a long time ago.

Speaking of French. How does this dude get a pass for consistently being garbage and having his features carry him to success... :lol

You gon really disrespect the gawd on his birthday by calling Nas a superior lyricist.

"Cause you don't understand him it don't mean that he nice"

Some people just put out good singles here and there. Same with snoop. Also he has street beginnings. People tend to love street ****** for some reason

lyrical rappers on good production is a bad thing now?

Big Sean won't sound terrible on it. He can rap but you hear those beats usually with people that can't rap and a lot of the time they overshadow the lyrics. I would check it out but I also think he will dumb it down.

Don't know how true that **** is BUT as a Leslie fan. All his albums been trash, he wasn't selling mad records. He gotta have a sextuple or some personal **** on there if this story is true.

I'm still trying to figure this out. His albums are trash and his features are trash. He was cool a few years ago but his music is terrible now.

Post Malone saying his album pushed back because he still working on it. Hahahaha, nah. He getting killed for all his dumb comments and the label is worried.

Nah. Post did the same **** with his first album.

He's gotta number one song and his album is coming out December which is the biggest month for albums. I'm not buying that.

answered your own question...features, and solid mixtapes.

French was never da most lyrical guy even in his cocaine city heydays.

Bunz is a strong term, your opinion though and your entitled to it. His fanbase is far too large to say he's not top tier in my opinion, as a traditional rapper of course. His album did come out last December though, are we judging the top class by years or just overall?

J Cole calatogue is definitely the worst out of

Drake
Wale
Kendrick

Wale's last album is the worst project of his career and any of the dudes mentioned. This is coming from a Wale fan I'm not saying it just to bash him.

I said "might", meaning its debatable. There both in my top 2 and some of the best to ever do it.
