Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Kendrick doesn’t release enough music.
Not sure if that's accurate. His first 4 albums (starting with Good Kid M.A.D.D. City, not section 80) were released between 2012 and 2017. He has since taken a break, but I think he did enough to get his just due.

Did not realize Kendrick and I were the same age. Thought he was younger.

But even though he is older than I realized, still made feel like a mini failure.

That's aight though...imma find my lane soon enough.

While yall hit casinos to gamble, we took risks thats illegal so my lawyer fees was substantial
I be with the G's and the vandals, kids that leave the relatives of your enemies squeezing a candle
My girl like Meadow Soprano
She couldnt handle driving ki's from Orlando in a kia serrano
My trap gon feed me a lambo
I never seen it, still make money from it like Stevies piano

Who y’all got as the “big 3” of next generation
Taking Cole, Kendrick, Drake, Meek, Future out the conversation
I haven’t seen any others posed the position really. Chance could’ve one of them, but his ”debut” is trash and he was rubbing ppl the wrong way prior to that. .. Wait Tyler, the Creator. If Tyler produces a radio hit he’s going to the moon.
I like that he isn't constantly putting stuff out
Go live life, experience the world, explore different walks of life and perspectives, then put that into your work.
instead of just using rap as a commodity instead of an artform
It amazes how most musicians that travel the world still talk about the same ol ****.

Youngboy
Kodak if he can stay out for 3-4 years consecutively
Maybe Roddy depending on if he can keep up the hype + expand musically while still being a hitmaker
I also feel like ****** like Takeoff and Keef who are still 25 or under but still had 7+ year careers are dangerous and have the ability to reinvent if they choose so...

But mainly ****** who haven't begun to hit their stride or even reached public awareness yet.

That makes it even more special.

He's able to stay relevant and hot without all the antics and being all in peoples faces.

It's like how Sade made albums events.
True. Sade’s albums are fire and you appreciate them when they come out.

Good question. Idk yet. Depends the direction the music takes. Curious to see if the fans want the “Everyman rapper” to define who they look to as “the guys”. Could be street rappers again. Or something completely different/ a mash up. Def interested you see where it goes.

Quality>Quantity. He’s got 4 classics.

Imagine having all of Quanity, Quality & 4 Classics....

They were grooming Chance for that too....thank GOD *****s woke up and realized he was phony .

Wild how Post Malone exists completely outside of rap now. That’s been a constant in American music history :smh:.

Him, Miley and Bieber all used rap to market themselves when they could give a **** less about the culture

Travis might be the only one thats just obvious

He def took the next step in 2018
I like Travis, but he don’t be saying anything. Based off history the people held in high regard on a grand scale are the ppl w/ something to say.
